Radiation Proof Fridge
So, the crate with 100% radiation leakage prevention is a GODSEND for me and my family of packrats. (Stack sizes go way up, and the base still somehow becomes mostly just storage crates...)

But honestly? Most of my radiation is in the fridge. There are so many alien meat products in there that I swear to god it's the most radioactive place in the facility at this point.

Having a way to radiation proof the fridge would be nice. It shouldn't be that hard. I mean, my guy has a fridge, and knows how to radiation proof a box, so...

The solution doesn't even need to be that fancy. If I had modding tools I could probably just copy the fridge's data, rename the furniture item, and turn up it's radiation containment variable.
Then just slap together a recipe for it that costs one fridge and one radiation proof box.
Voila, one radiation proof fridge.

Related Side Note: Does anyone know if the anti-radiation suit and the lead vest stack additively or multiplicatively? Like, if I equip both do I take 9% radiation, or am I just straight up immune to radiation?

the radiation chest + the fridge = radiation hardened fridge
would be nice. i dont actually gather meat due to the radiation problems.

irl, radiation protection would be additive. due to how the game words it though it sounds like its multiplicative.

I am reasonably sure it is multiplicative, as I was still receiving very slight amounts of radiation even when one of my buddies was going through his "radioactive meat goblin" phase.

I am also in support of a rad-proof fridge. I made the mistake of placing my fridge relatively close to my crafting bench, so now there's a 5m exclusion zone I have to skirt around every time.

yeah i suggested this fridge thingo as well but using lead vests to produce lead which gives us more lead lined items like other crates / fridges and such storage, also asked for recipe book on the cooking bench as well as addon water storage for auto pull cooking water + items

I'm actually surprised we got a fully radiationproof container this early in the game at all, so I figure rad-proof fridges should come soon after.

Actually it's a bit weird we cant craft any refridgeration at all right now but c'est la vie

tbh, you dont need that many meat, and you can get more anytime you want, 1 pot of soup will last you for long (4 sips) and its easier to make soup from veggies which is not radioactive so its just better to convert excess meat to biomass. And meat does not give you that many rad/s too, 100% is mostly for Leyak and Power cells. Other than that - just wear a rad suit all the time and you okay. 25% on fridge is well enough.

it's less about the total storage and more about the radiation leaking from the fridge

as for craftable fridges, it's more about the potential for a more compact kitchen + until you reach flathills, if your fridges get destroyed there's no new ones to grab.

some people keep their fridge near the crafting table due to some recipes requiring perishable goods to craft

Oh, I know I don't *need* that much meat. I'm not exactly struggling.

Actually, that's part of the reason I suggested this feature. If having to manage the radiation my food supply was emitting was part of the challenge of the game, removing that factor could imbalance the game.

As you said, however, it's pretty easy to get a radiation-free diet, procure food on short notice, or even just live off of bad soups made out of a single tomato.
Even with my fridge (which, at this point, would probably give birth to Godzilla if I threw a gecko at it) all I have to do is sort of... shimmy around it.

That's my point, I'm asking for a QoL feature, not a rebalance - this isn't challenging, it's just inconvenient.
Challenge is fun, inconvenience is... usually not.

At the end of the day, though, it's a minor gripe.
A little like having to take off my radiation suit if I want to use the crafting bench because I can't just *turn off* its heater... for some reason.
