Just opened vaccum chamber

and after looking around, theres no new area to explore to progress. i no longer have a waypoint/objective and the sister at the entrance of the door is telling me to turn back. where do i go from here?

You're at the end of the current content you can do whatever you want. There is a roadmap in the main steam page the next update is coming in summer.

The game should probably have a non-immersive popup that declares the end of the content instead of trying to get the message across immersively. I've watched more than one streamer keep searching the area for a long time without getting it, even after reading the journal entry. It's also not the first area where an NPC directly tells you to stop progressing, so it's kind of understandable that people wouldn't think that's a meta message to actually stop playing.

The game could incorporate it into the game name it IS-something that just breaks the 4th wall and all the audio logs could just say "IS-something always seems to say end of Early Access content I wonder whatever could that mean? It seems to be talking to someone or something beyond our comprehension" and stick it at the end of every Early Access section.

While she does indirectly tell you that there is no more content for you, the G.A.T.E. Pal (which apparently nobody reads) does literally tell you there is nothing else for you... For now.

That may be due to reading while exploring in this game being a liability. Right now I just download emails to read later, reading on the spot would leave you vulnerable to enemy patrols or worse.
