Not sure about electro grenades. The frag grenades are worth it. If you can land one near a soldier, you got a dead soldier EZ. Not many one shot kill weapons in this game.

i got 3 with one. It`s an absolute blast. But what do the electro nades do?

Not sure, never used them. The most I can tell from the description is they stun enemies, probably impart some degree of electrical damage. All electrical based weapons have a chance to stun, visually seen as them being electrified, but I guess the grenades guarantee the stun?

that really sucks if that is true since the net gun is a thing

There's physical and then there's elemental damage, soldiers aren't resistant to elemental, and resists melee attacks to the body.

So chances are using elemental effects that's high will kill certain enemies better.

Electro grenades will explode on inpact with any enemy and instakill/gib soldiers(even shotgunners), if you throw directly at them. That works with Exors and other aliens too. But if throw them nearby ,they explode just like regular frag grenade with only half damage +stun .
i also found out about smoothie grenades and bait booms. i know that baits suck, but it feels like they actually do no damage, and i never even found a smoothie

There are several slushy machines in the game, the earlierst being in the small kitchen between the area with the gym and pool and the data farm. It's easy to miss that you can actually buy slushies there, since you need to get reeeal close to the machine's button to order them.

They are only useful as a cheap weapon against snipers, throw one into the corner where they hide and they turn to face it.

You kinda need 3-4 to kill a sniper though.

they get oneshot by a thermo spear, meaning that these nades do about ~7 damage per nade (termo spear does 18 damage on hit)

For one thing, electro grenades are actually craftable, while frags have an extraordinarily low drop rate (or there's a very specific kill requirement like with Rat Packs. I have done two separate playthroughs and have only gotten a single frag. And then wasted it on the Tarasque finding that it doesn't do much to it, even when tossed almost perfectly in front of him.

One thing you should know is that the mugnade explodes on the 2nd bounce, so you can technically bounce it immediately on a throw.
