molten metal
I have a metal bucket, am in Manufacturing, and can't figure out how to get any molten metal. Is there a specific spot to fill the bucket at?

Unless I missed something crazy (which is possible), I don't think using molten metal is a thing in this game. Why were you looking for it?

You mix water, metal and silver scrap in a soup pot to make solder, no buckets

Ahhhh, that makes a lot of sense as to why they thought it was molten metal. Yeah, you get the recipe by analyzing the pot sitting on the Forge's counter, and you can reference it any time in your journal under soups. Ignore the fact that boiling water will be far too cold to melt (almost, Gallium is weird stuff.) any metal, and would be undesirable in solder to begin with.

Yes, I have been looking for a use of the metal bucket ever since I found one. So far I have found none.

i must be missing something.
i have a pot on the stove. I have metal, silver and water in my inventory.
The pot has the option to add these to the pot, but it doesn't work for me.
Controller nor keyboard controls will allow me to add the items.
Anybody else have this problem? And how to fix it?

Fill the pot with water first: Pick up the pot, go to a clean water source and scoop the water up with the pot. Put it on the stove and add your silver and metal scrap to that.

We already have
Clear water
Tainted water
Radioactive water (green) - can stay in containers, but useless - at least glow green light.
Antejuice - violet, can be used in cooking\wash but not in farming. Can be found in mine or perforations.

All these liquids can be stored in containers.

Do any of you have enough cooking skill to make soup?

Bad soup yes, at cooking 5 and not seeing other recipes, or me (the player) not knowing how to get the recipes to work.
easiest one - Raw Pecarry Chop+Raw Alien Drumstick+Raw Pest Rump
All soups you succesfully made|found is saved to J (pda) -> GATE (left-top angle) -> Soup Reciepes

If you get close to something, the game should give it to you.

Also,

Pretty sure the "molten metal" bit is just flavor text for the metal bucket, to make it seem more different to a plastic bucket. Which would obviously not be able to hold molten metal.
Granted the game is EA so...who knows, maybe a new liquid will be introduced that needs a hefty and strong container.

Aaaand this topic just saved me some time on worthless expedition for liquid metal with buckets.
Thank you.
It's for when you get really sick and have radioactive diarrhea. It's called the makeshift chemical toilet.
Atlas MK II May 17, 2024 @ 5:34am
The makeshift toilet uses plastic buckets, not metal ones

Thanks all. Yes, the confusion for me was that I knew I had to make solder, I was running around the manufacturing level where there was molten metal flowing everywhere, and I had a bucket saying that it could hold molten metal. My brain thought I needed to use that particular bucket to get metal. (I analyzed the pot next to the blacksmith, but totally missed the 'soup' journal entry I got from it)

I've completed the current content and never found a use for the metal bucket outside of getting water/antejuice.
