Dealing with peccary
i keep dying to the first peccary i encounter. It says to dodge its attacks by just walking to the side? what attack? the charging one? What about the regular attack?

My best advice so far would be to bring a shield (plastic tray is in the kitchen) and keep it up at all times you're not attacking. The only attack you can really reliably dodge is the sparkly charge, yes. Load up with about 2-3 table/chair legs, approach with the shield raised, tank a hit on the shield, then riposte with a strike to its head, then repeat. If it recoils from the blow you have a chance to stunlock it or at least get several hits in.

Not long from now you'll have much better armor and ranged weapons that make these guys trivial.

so dont use the pipe weapon. table leg and shield then.

If you have the pipe weapon then use it for sure, just use the best blunt weapon you have as long as you have a shield equipped also. The table leg will be sufficient though.

Throw a net on them, hit them 3 times, throw another net after the first one expired. Repeat until dead.

If you're in the very beginning and basically have nothing you still can craft nets and a pipe club. Throw the net and while it's confused hit it in a head 2-3 times, rinse and repeat. I would also recommend finding some staplers and crafting a shock trap asap. Makes dog encounters trivial.

A lot of good advice so far. Ill try to remember these as I continue to play.

After awhile, your Sprint skill will level up (assuming you run a lot) and you will feel less inept as mobility increases. At a certain point you can ditch the shield because of your better mobility, hopefully better aim on weak points, and better weaponry will take them out without much hassle.

Take advantage when they do their charge attack. You can get a few free hits in. But after the charge attack, bait them towards you with your back against a wall. The fight feels significantly easier if you can eliminate the knockback.

You'll want to oscillate between attacking once, then immediately blocking until it attacks, then attack once and repeat. Keep your back against the wall and you won't get knocked back. If you're out in the open, crouching also mitigates the knockback, making it easier to counterattack.

With proper timing and avoiding knockback, you can take on a peccary without taking any damage.

Also, blocking seems to be more effective than the animation makes it out to be, and by that I mean even if it looks like your shield isn't up, if you're holding the block button you are likely to block the attack, even if it doesn't look like you will. There's a sort of trap where you'll instinctively just block too late because you think your still in your attack animation --- try to get into the habit of immediately blocking after an attack, even if you're still in your attack animation.

I found them far more manageable when you craft yourself a spear, get yourself a standing lamp pronto.
use a net, attack, use the net, attack, chop it up, cook it and eat it back at base

every ones talking about weapons but no one is mentioning armor
grab those book binders on shelfs and desks they will give you magazines and books which can help make leg and arm armor after making them try packaging filing cabinets (any size) it may have a high chance breaking but keep it up because once you get at least one you can make a chest piece
later when you navigate to third floor there should be screws on the shelfs grab them and a frying pan from the start area and you will have a helmet and a finished set bonus that makes carried items lighter

what`s the point of armor if you can just not get hit?
