Early on, other than moving purely on foot, you can use a platform cart. It's handy for not only lugging heavy things, but since it counts as a vehicle, even if you are weighed down you aren't slowed either. The other benefit is that it can go places that the Forklift can't, like stairs.
About the only things I can say is just to make sure you stack things right on your cart to put the heaviest stuff on it (in case you need to move on foot for some reason) and make sure your path is clear.
Later on, a forklift can be good, but then you'll have to worry about pathing and making sure you've unlocked gates and doors that allow for easy vehicle access.
Lastly, if you have a personal teleporter, you get two of them, have a charger at each spot, and then just load up and zap between spots, trying to be as efficient with your slot usage as you can.
When I moved from the Office Security post (by Manufacturing West) to the Labs Aquarium Lobby I used 5 platform carts and a forklift. I was playing with two people, so I'd unpack the base and ferry the platform carts to the Office lobby, then they'd load the cart into the forklift and ferry it back to the base site.
If you are relatively close to a tram and your new base site is also next to a tram (it really should be!) then you can load up platform carts and leave them right at any tram. From there, you can take the platform cart inventory and load it into your inventory AND the Tram's storage to reach the location quickly.
not much to say other then to craft 1 to 2 carts once your in your new base since in my experience its better to have mobile storage for your base since you'll be moving heavy loads around especially since once you set up another base your going to pick the next place clean anyway
