Rare Fish

Is there another way to get rare fish chance up? I swear I'm sticking to hot spots and I'm pushing level 14 without a single rare. I even have the chair set-up with the fishing hat. Anyone had luck anywhere else?

Can't say for sure, but it seems you need to use any of the types of fish bait in order to catch the rare variants. I've done plenty of fishing, but I finally sat down at a hotspot with antefish bait and fishing hat, and caught the rare variant in three catches to get the achievement

You both need the bait and it seems like there are only certain ponds where the given rare fish will show up, e.g. Far Garden for the rare antefish

You're able to craft it at fishing level 10. It cannot be found.

I'm gonna blow my brains out, in Abiotic Factor, trying to get the last Canaan rare fish type. I've caught like 300 of them and I still don't have it.

If this helps, Wraith Eel is best to fish for during night and dusk (2.2% chance during night and 1.4% during dusk), and Auric Eel can only be caught during dawn and noon (1% chance for both times). These chances are with bait too fyi. Fish at the pier where the Fisherman is and don't forget your hat and tacklebox. It is best to just do other ♥♥♥♥ and stack up on Night Realm resets for the eel bait from time to time, and go on a dedicated fishing trip when you've got about 25-30+ bait.

I didn't know about the time mattering, so thank you. I've made about 200+ bait so far in my failed fishing escapades, waiting for the portal reset to get those damned seeds for it. The recipe for the only fish with multiple variants in a world with no fishing holes spawn is so brutal. No idea why they made it like that.
