is it fun playing this solo?
Just curious what others think about playing this game solo vs with friends. Kinda think it would be a slog as far as collecting material when playing solo but haven't tried it yet

solo is very good.
-- you'd be surprised just how often this gets asked here.

This is a question that changes based on personal opinion. It's both, you could easily change stack sizes and item weight before, and even after you start your world. The settings for these are never locked.

If you play solo, I'd suggest lowering weight and upping item stacks a bit and experiment with what doesn't feel like a slog.
I've been playing solo day 1 (110 hours) and I have never touched multiplayer (nothing against the community but this is my chillaxing game so I would prefer not having people buzzing around).

Solo is extremely fun, there's a sense of wonder (and horror) seeing new things when you're prowling around by yourself. You really don't need that much resources just for yourself, and defensive you only need to look for places where enemies can't access
I've only played solo so far. I probably will keep it that way

I've had a lot of fun solo. What's nice is you can alternate your playthrough at any time to non-solo if you want
Solo is better if you want the full experience of the feeling being one of a few surviving scientists, its also scarier solo, and more intense than with other players, this way they cant ruin your experience either and you can take as much time as you want to prep everything.
playing solo gives me this weirdly comfy and melancholic feeling. it's really like no other game I've played.

I've been having hundreds of hours of solo fun with this game so far, so I can confidently say that it's worth it. Carrying stuff is definitely a bit more annoying solo, but the game gives you tools (like platform carts and other vehicles) and sandbox options to mitigate that problem.

before Hydroplant, yes, absolutely. Solo'ing is fun, not too difficult, and building a base is entertaining. Hydroplant and Reactors though? Hell-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-no. Enemies are bullet sponges, your weapons and damage falls off FAST, and the areas become complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mazes.

Worse is the Reactors ,since DerpField just rushed it out the door without proper QA. Don't wanna spoil, but there's a point in Reactors where you have to deal with wave-based fights and is basically impossible without more than two players.

You need the proper weapon (aka the Skink), I'm inclined to say this makes quick work of Gatekeepers solo. As for the wave, I just get to a high ground (or turn invisible) and let the turrets do the work. Solo isn't at any point impossible, you just need the proper equipment for the job. It's kinda fun exploiting the game like a solo scientists instead of headbutting the wall with a crowd.

This game is definitely fun solo. I have over 300 hours in this game, and still continue to play. Not once have I played with others. I wouldn't suggest rushing through stuff, and build slowly, unless your already familiar with the layout.

What I can see, on YouTube videos, grouping seems to be easy mode. You have so many ganging on 1-2 mobs, that it looks kind of unfair. I often thought, "Is it fun playing this with others?"; due to how easy it looks in the videos with others.

The game is pretty forgiving, till about Hydro. I noticed when I got there, I had to use sneaking & tactics to get my way through to open doors and acquire items that would unlock better armor. Once you get the armor, it settles down. Though, I would suggest using less projectiles weapons, and more melee.. as the laser sword just eat the soldiers alive.

Reactors is about the same level as Hydro, except the end portal. It really ramps up without the new armor set and shields.

Hello folks, can anyone tell me if this might be a good game to get and play solo?

Eventually you'll find a monster that forces you to stop playing the game and stare at it every 15 minutes like clockwork, it's real tedious. Rest of the game is great though.

as far as that entity goes, i'd highly recommend you just make and equip the trinket that looks at it automatically for you.
