*Spoilers ahead and don't know how to black the letters out... sorry*

So I've reached the part in which I travel through a portal to an area filled with zombies. I believe it's in a furniture store. If you know where I'm talking about, I've activated all switches and powered the elevator. I then used the portal on the floor above but then died on the side I failed to open the shortcut and upon returning, the elevator does not work and the switches are gone.

Any advice, has this happened to anyone else?

The switches in the furniture store have random places. You need to find them anew every time.

Once you use the elevator from the top you can use it every time top or bottom.

The placement of the switches is random every time you come through the portal.

Tip: find all of them before pressing the first one.

Check the toilets.

Depending on your luck they might all be in the basement.

There's also a small vent-sized room it can spawn in as well on the first (ground) floor.

This happened to me. Is it possible to get back to the roof? I died too soon to open a shortcut. I think. I don't know where it is, if I did.

Oof, this almost happened to me on my run. The zombies were beating on me left and right; fortunately I made it to that crawlspace and was able to heal up before continuing my run for the buttons. Best order to do them in my opinion is basement, second floor, then first floor. Then you're right on the same level as the elevator and can make a mad dash for it when it's ready.

I used to love the furniture store, then I tried it solo, lol. Nope.

As long as you scout out the buttons before pressing them, it's not hard to do solo at all.

You can make shortcut via making a base at the top to allow for teleporting, or later on you can use a rope plant and bridge to allow placement to get up quickly. I did the latter, and it's quite handy and cheap, but it isn't something you can do right away.
