Saves on 1.0?
Hello fellow scientists! I’d like to start a game because I don’t think I’ll be able to complete all the current content before the 1.0 release. My question is, when the official launch comes out, will the saves be compatible? I’m not sure whether to start playing now or wait a few months.

Far as I can tell, they should be. Ever since the start of Early Access, the devs have put in a lot of effort to make sure the save files were compatible with the next update.

I'd be more than very shocked if somehow saves didn't carry over to the last major update.

zags latest response to this question was iirc : "yes"

since majority of new content is always beyond the current end which is simply inaccessable the game saves where always working fine with new updates.
If they don't it's not end of world, imo. I've started anew just to try change of approach even if slightly and with console it'll be just more to
literal worst case I see happening, is you have some legacy items.

as far as i'm aware, we USED to have goggles and needed to use them to see underwater. as far as I can tell now however, the diving suit seems to have that built in as I can now see with a headlamp on underwater, which is a massive QOL improvement.

I expect any changes they make to be similar to that honestly. though it DOES lead to you being screwed over a LOT.

I was in reactors basically when they added some new items and changed recipes, so had no idea about space queen, or the items from that world, and that REALLY screwed me over as I didn't want to just use the wiki. similar to the Lodestones farming.
