Jump-pack feels like a sidegrade or downgrade to the jetpack rather than an upgrade
You get 3-4 double sprint speed "forward" jumps instantly no matter how fast you're falling, but in exchange you lose basically all verticality, versatility, and sustainability- from my limited testing this may allow you to go flying across large gaps- or dodge charging yetis and tarasques- but it doesn't help that proper use of the Jetpack can do the same, and get you to significantly more places, even if not as quickly.

Anyone got better arguments for/against it?

EDIT; I've found a practical use for it! by holding it in your hand while you use your jetpack you can use it as well, this actually has a use case; because it instantly cancels all fall speed, you can use it as a replacement for old jetpack flappy birding with good timing, allowing infinite flight! use it while it works, I expect they'll fix it quick.

I'm with you. The bigger capacity/weight is nice, but it's not worth losing the jetpack's mobility.

100% agree
dumped it the instant i made it and found out how it worked and went back to regular jetpack. the irony is hat if you time your thrust with the jetpack, you can go further than you could with the long jump pack
Difference is that jump pack can recharge, while falling. But I absolutely hate inability to jump up, rather than forward and up.

Same, was very disappointed. Feels like a downgrade. Back to the jetpack. The jumppack now has a special place besides he round single plot the auto salvager and the pest teleporter 😂😂

actually the jetpack gets you there virtually the same speed if you just abuse rolling midair

I tried out the long jump pack and actually found it extremely practical within Cascade. Even if you're wearing heavy armor it gives you huge horizontal momentum for long distances by chaining jumps. It works great in jumping gaps within reactors, and the additional jumps do give you a bit of vertical momentum to allow you to get further up.

It's currently my default pack, it only has 1 row less than the void pack and the additional speed in getting around is absolutely huge.

It has a few other advantages too, like being very power efficient. Each jump uses very little power, which means you can basically keep it charged forever just by using the crystalline vial trinket.

And it's great for mobility in combat. Basically no enemy can keep up with you, and enemy infantry has really bad accuracy against a fast moving target. I used it to skip past the deluge of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at the reactor in the large open area. The mounted machine gun CAN hit you even with the jump pack, but it lets you reach it more easily.

And perhaps most importantly, the jump pack works while you have a shield raised. This is absolutely huge, it basically removes the shield's only disadvantage (being slowed down) and makes getting past snipers and machine guns much easier.

Also OP, you can actually do a long jump in any direction. It's based on which direction you're moving, so you can jump sideways or backwards.
I'm kinda butthurt I used my jetpack to make it now gotta go grind stuff to get my jetpack back. honestly It wouldn't be so bad if it jumped towards where you're facing like upwards for example, even with the measly 3-4 jumps. doesn't feel like an upgrade to me either

Also forget it actually works in the gates first time visit unlike jetpack tbf. So it atleast helps a bit in that regard.
