Unique base locations?
Anyone got any unique base locations they've been enjoying?

I mean stuff like the back of Warren's security office or even on the train. Those weird nooks and crannies were you gotta kinda work for it to make the base location good.

Heck, how about any fun ones? Ones that might not be too useful but is still a cool base spot.

if you want an decent spot for an self-made base location, i'd recommend looking upwards toward the roof.
-- areas with steel beams up there make for an solid base location, albeit an bit packed-in, you'll be untroubled by the ground-dwellers.

out of them all, the one in the 2nd level of the offices, in the corner room, with the wire-mesh door, and the security window shutter, of the area beside the ramp, facing out toward the enterence to manufacturing, is probably the coziest one.
-- just gotta keep the distance from the roof in mind, and leave enough space to allow you to sleep up there.
I've been enjoying this little hidden room. It's a secondary base so I don't use it as much as my main one and I'm still adjusting it's layout. The benches and cooking stuff are staying as is. The other half of the room is going to be changed eventually.

The World in the Mirror or the parking garage by the driving course. They haven’t been my primary base but they’ve been solid outposts.
As an actual base where you store your loot, many of the small locations are... well, too small to really work; unless you are willing to make some sacrifices and do without something.

That said I do have some outposts in some interesting spots.

There's an out of the way maintenance corridor and room in the Adjustment Wing of the Lab Sector that's just within the Wing that I used in one run. It's accessible via the maintenance door you unlock near the Main Lift, with another access via a ladder to some vents in the MRI room with the cut off Composer shoulder horns, and via a hallway that leads to a viewing room, break room, and specimen room with a bot. It's pretty secure with only one long hallway to worry about, though a wandering Exor that spawns in the specimen room has made it a habit to go down 2 doors and a 2 long hallways to 'just so happen' to notice my spot. I could retreat further in into the maintenance room and save on building defenses, but I already made my outpost there. Have to admit, it does have enough room to build a halfway decent base, but you will have to build around a lot of structure.

Another spot in the Lab Sector was the Cellar Lab (easy to describe since a sign is right there! :steamhappy:). While not a small spot nor out of the way spot, it is a more interesting areas since, given how it puts you right into the thick of things. I specifically made an outpost there to help despawn enemies around some important item trade stations, and it wound up being a surprisingly safe spot for me. With how much of an area the Crafting Bench carves out, it too could be a really good base location, allowing for two floors worth of space.

In the Manufacturing Sector, I did make an outpost in that locked room above the F.O.R.G.E., which I imagine some people have made a base in. It's barely big enough to do something with, while being nice and out of the way.

Another Manufacturing spot is the Control room with the radiation venting button. It's handy to have that room free, and there is some room to work with if I felt like expanding, but I typically try to get something that's got better access to other places, which means I typically means something in the Office Sector.

That's about all the good ones I can think of off the top of my head. Most of the outposts I have are kind of boring and predictable. Like having one at The Train (at the only outlet) to fast travel there to loot stuff, one in the HQ Building at Flathill, one at the top of the Furniture Store, one at the fisherman's cabin in Canaan, one at Some Distant Shore for some reason, and so on. I also have several fishing spot locations like the Antejuice pool, a cave pool in the mines, and the ink pool in the Night Realm.

never see people mention the little hidden portal room in manufactoring where the bait pest is located. that entire area only exists to be used as a base location
omg I love when I forget the very basic fact that I can in fact put a crafting bench just about anywhere lol. I have no idea why I have not just put a bench in the labs around the trading stations, Ffffff that would make that much easier lolololol. Usually I just basically sprint up to the Carbon station and then go get in a fight with that peccary and maybe the exor lol, avoiding all the Order jerks. We took great offense to the whole concept of Manufacturing West and only sorta set up a base in the Mapping building and preferred to always commute into Manufacturing lol. Still do, in fact lololol. Even while set up in Hydro.

I did in fact prepare with the intent of making a return trip to Some Distant Shore, just so it was easy to get there if needed/wanted lol. I actually really liked the roof top of that warehouse in Hydro midway on the map, even though, you know, so many, many things can shoot you from afar there lol

I can't stop thinking about that small room above the truck, when you first enter the Security sector. It's cramped, but there's not enough room for anything to spawn inside either. You can't draw electricity there directly, but maybe if you had a bunch of pests running in wheels.... or lasers? I haven't tried routing lasers there yet. Once I get the power situation sorted out, I'll make a snug little base there.
