What's the best way to get wood planks?
Will probably use this for COOP

Not sure why this is a concern, since I typically have way more wood planks than I can use, but...

If you break down most anything wooden (desks, crates, pallets, etc) you'll get some wood planks in return. It is ideal to actually try to package stuff up (that can be packaged) rather than smashing them to get the crafting XP out of them when you inevitably fail; since you get the same resources anyway. Early on the Data Farm in Level 2 has a lot of desks you can raid, among a bunch of other useful resources.
(If you actually package it up, you can use it as a free barricade, or can break it with the RMB of the hammer, or break it down at the Repair & Salvage Bench)

Once you get into your first significant portal world, you should be more than fine on renewable wood resources (if not other resources as well).

Not naming names to avoid spoilers, there is one portal world that's just past the half way point of what's available that should give you more wood planks than you know what to do with. That places is typically the most cited place on getting wood planks, among other things as well.

I actually run out of wood after the content, while building bridges and stuff. The best way I found is to take a few hammers to the furniture store and dismantle tables only. Gets you a couple of stacks. If you need more, dismantle the chairs too. Everything else is not worth it. The skills that doubles hammer loot is useful here.

I always get a fair amount of wood from looting the wagon with all the crates in the train. Since it also has an outlet, you can set up a teleporter right in there and loot it in the matter of a minute each reset.

This is probably the way to go, though, especially once you have the construction perk that gives you a 50% chance for double materials from dismantling furniture.

If you don't have the perk yet, simply deconstructing all you can see inside the furniture store is a really quick way to get there.

Thank you. I'm starting a new diffufly and had problems with test tunes in my first ru.

Before the train, just vacuum all the crates, and after the crates just do the train

Oh! I see what might be going on. You might also run into glass issues as well if you are leaning a lot into using healing syringes.

Approaching combat more slowly and carefully could help with the need of healing so much.

Wooden furniture and scrapping desk legs will give you a lot of planks
Thanks folks my apocalyptic run is going well.
