When do you think Autumn Update will drop?
I really want to get back into this game, but i'm kind of worried that an update will drop in the middle of my new playthrough. Things happen, corrupted saves, it may break the flow of things and change balance/previous areas I may be going through still.

Any predictions when the new major update will drop?

it'll come when it's ready to.
-- rushing will only cause things to break.

as for an general range going by seasons, it'd be some time next year. ( currently spring going into summer. ).

They said on the roadmap it will be coming out in Autumn this year though.

Loving this game so far, and trying to get more of my mate to play, so hope their is a steam sale soon

It doesn't say what year it just says Autumn. Besides based on the size of the content on the roadmap it would be impossible to make that much content and not have the feel small if it was all done by this year. I'd rather have meaningful content than a rushed mess.

Technically you are right, but the Summer Update came out when it was scheduled so I assume when they say 'Autumn Update' they mean 2024 not 'Autumn Next Year'.

Also, I'm not saying they should rush the update I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea of when it MIGHT drop.

Not sure why multiple posters are getting defensive.

Nobody's getting defensive you're looking at text people have a habit of assuming emotions when looking at text when there are none it's natural and happens to me sometimes too that being said Autumn since they're based in New Zeyland it around March to May.

Ah, my mistake then. Thanks for clarification.

They do mean autumn in the northern hemisphere. The update is supposed to come in the next 40 days whether anyone thinks it's impossible to make that much content in that time or not.

As others have speculated, I'd guess the first Monday of the Steam Autumn Sale, which is December 2 (3 weeks from now), if not the first Monday of the Steam Winter Sale, which is the Monday right after winter begins.

If crush depth's drop date is anything to go by, it's due today. But honestly some time this month, before summer starts in the southern hemisphere/NZ.

Clarification to what I said was that it would be impossible for the world to feel big if its made in such a short time frame not that it was impossible to do in general kind of like how security sector felt small.
It is doable especially if they have maps made and planned out before. Which I didn't take into consideration considering they have screenshots of the map in the roadmap so it seems doable in which case my bad.

latest possible realistic date is december 10th. why? they need to make sure they got atleast about a week or 2 to fix potential bugs or progress blocker glitches BEFORE they leave for the holidays.

so they got 4 weeks from now essentially. so expect news by next week regarding the schedule given what the guy in charge of it said on thier discord.

and yes the roadmap uses western season schedule. so autumn ends on december 20th but like i said above that aint happening as thats literally the last workday before christmas. if gamebreaker bug happens : everyone is screwed till new year. they wouldnt do that. no game company does that.

Launch Date Trailer, which released back in January, had glimpses of content from Summer update already (SUV, Reaper, Vussoir portal); moreover, it was showing content even from Autumn update (Reactor area, teleport network). So it is not likely they are developing all that stuff for next update from scratch, very likely they have a lot of content already done, or at least in its pre-polishing/draft stage.

Correct.

For those that really want an interesting sneak peak (and slight spoilers), the devs have left in some very low Level of Detail map models in the game for the final two sectors. They are only accessible while going out of bounds. The places are pretty much an inhospitable death trap if not prepared, but it clearly shows that the devs have a lot of things already planned out.

those areas, would they be the residences and the place under the hydroplant mist bubble?
-- if not, then that makes potentially 4 areas to explore out there.

( there're some pretty sweet eastereggs out there too, i'd recommend going above silo 3 of the hydroplant~ ).
MechWarden Nov 12, 2024 @ 2:03pm
Yes, it would be.

The place under the Hydroplant is the Reactor Sector, which is one of the areas you can check out if you can find a way around the death barrier. And the other spot I'm talking about is the Residential Sector.
(so no, not two more sectors)

However there is a work-in-progress 'humming/buzzing' glowing spot (that does exactly what you think) but it literally goes to the middle of nowhere... for now.
