But it is worth looking at the save folder anyway to see if the backup files are usable; assuming they are still there.
-- in the normal case of file deletion, it'd just be floating around in your recycle bin for around 30 days or so, provided you'd manually deleted the file of course. ( bit different for efficient deletions made by other programs however. ).
only other thing that might work, would be using an file restoration program to *potentially* recover the fully deleted file.
-- be sure to backup your saves in the future, as you never know when incidents like this'll happen again.
Type %appdata% and press enter
press the backspace key to go back a folder until you see 3 folders: local, locallow and roaming
go into local -> abiotic factor -> saved -> savegames and go into the id folder that shows up
inside should contain 2 folders: worlds and backups
go into the backups folder and your world that you deleted should appear there, open that folder up and numerous folders with a number should appear they are your world save backups, sort the file listing by date modified and copy the most recently modified folder and back out of the backups folder and go into the worlds folder and paste it there.
the save may be a tad older but still better than starting all over again.
oh and the world name is whatever that folder you copied into the worlds folder is so if the folder name was just 1 then the world will be called 1 so if you want to change it just rename the folder.
That said, I guess it is better than nothing.
I managed to recover a two save files both were deleted from june before the flathill fog update so there was no indicator that it would of been tampered from two updates, one save file (last backup was 23rd of july) was ready to go into the security sector so it did not have an objective and the other was a multiplayer world (last backup was 10th of june) in manufacturing so flathill was completed.
The first file I loaded in I got the objective to infiltrate security sector again which means it works fine, the second file as I am typing this got the fog weather event which you get after finishing flathill, this save file had a backup save way before the fog update.
it works trust.
Just when I looked at my files, the backup files didn't look like a comprehensive backup.
Here's hoping the backup files are still there, even after deleting the files.
