Radioactive world

Started over, played a few hours to then realise I had the slow learning perk. I followed the steps to delete the char in the appdata, was able to log in with a new char but now my world is just full of radiation, no matter where I am. Is there something in the world that I need to trigger to get the radiation removed? Or does anyone know what I need to do to get it gone?

It is a weather event that should pass after 1 full day.
If you get to manufacturing there is a button in the radioactive water room to purge that weather event immediately.

+1 to previous suggestion but you might want to pick up a radiation suit while you are there.
