Will the cloth rope still be viable?
Sure you can get down heights safer early on but we can't really climb back up them as of yet since it requires a certain (yet to be added) amount of strength, and there's are already better alternatives, why use the cloth rope at that point?

To be fair the moment you encounter furniture you already put together that you can alter the map layout and speaking from experience, while i did originally have ideas for the rope cloth early on, finding out it had a strength requirement to climb back up was really disappointing, i never found a use for it afterwards since i could just as easily run down the stairs especially when i was wandering with a cart.

Furniture lets you put obstacles and useful things on the map, the ropes let you open new paths that were not available.

There's an area just above the cafeteria where the ceiling came down and blocks access from the gym to the data farms, rendering it a one-way shortcut the other way. If you use shelves (or rope plant), you can make it traversable both ways. Likewise, there an area there where the short way down breaks your legs but if you put a cloth rope down you are good to go. You can't get trapped up here by pests or robots chasing you because you can descend safely. That's pretty great to have within hours of booting up the game.

I feel like the areas are too small and the consequences for taking fall damage to minimal for ropes to matter. I never used one the whole time I played.
