[Spoilers] Quick and Simple Guide to Fishes

Portal Fish (Able to get a rare) Almost everywhere but kinda rare (pool,fountain by the tram, aquarium, antejuice pool)

Moon Fish (Able to get rare) Swimming pool at night only, rarely appears daytime.
Here's my recount on how i caught a rare, i went to fish above the waterfall(consistent moonfish catches regardless if it's day or night) saw a fishing spot ripple and cast it there, caught 15 fishes then it disappeared just before it became night, since the spot disappeared i figured ah well, might as well cast my bob at the darkest corner of the pond got it first try (wearing fisherman's hat while sitting on the tacklebox chair and with the moonfish bait equipped)

Antefish (Able to get a rare) First portal world where you met the exors, there's a pool in there
Chordfish (Able to get rare when fog lantern is equipped- credits to onyxprojectz) flat hills waterfall display right before entering the last building (got nothing in sewers)
Radfish (Able to get a rare) Manufacturing, near the blacksmith on the otherside of the lv 2 hackpad blastdoor
IS-0098 (Able to get a rare) right before during and after a leyak haunting
Inkfish (Able to get rare) Shadow world, no idea what factors it but im donning the night helm and moon bait, caught it on my 10th and it was about 2-3pm
Darkwater Fish (Able to get a rare) Hydroplant area (next to submarine)

Good work, this list is more detailed than the one on the wiki. For some reason my uncreative brain didn't think to fish in fountains and swimming pools.

Shorty after getting the fishing rod I tried fishing in the Level 1 Lobby Fountain just to test. It's hard, because of the space, but it works!

Looking for someone to correct me if im wrong about the inability to catch a rare variation of that fish type, i gave each fishtype 20 catches(excluding junk catches). Might just be my bad luck.

I've caught moonfish in several bodies of water at night. I don't think it matters what the water is as long as it is at night. Not sure about other liquids, though.

I caught the rare chord fish on my ninth and tenth try at the waterfall. I had both the Fishermans hat and the fog lantern trinket in order to get them I believe.

This trinket was got from the tier 2 passcode chest near the laser in the office area.

The key was dropped from the fog creature when the weather changes.

The trinket alone lures the chordfish as well so this paired with the fishermans hat is why i think i was able to catch them.

Only one rare fish(Moon fish) left. Always find it hard to get more than 4 catches as night time is only 9 hrs. I think im gonna try equipping the night helm to see if it increases the rare fish catch rate (ive been equipping the lucky fishing hat for the past 40 or so catches)

You can get the moon fish in the fountain.

Not consistent though, you could get moonfish throughout the day+night when fishing above the waterfall near the caves in manufacturing, where it's dark. remember to use your moonfish bait too.
