Dedicated Server Setup not working.
Hi,
I'm having an issue with getting a dedicated server running that is accessible. Following the instructions on various websites on this topic (https://techraptor.net/gaming/guides/abiotic-factor-server-guide-server-settings) being one of them, I'm an not able to see or connect to the dedicated server.

I'm not new to dedicated servers. I sat up dedicated servers for 7 Days to Die, Empyrion, Ark , Conan just to name a few. I get all the port forwarding stuff etc.

However, no matter what I try, I am unable to see the dedicated server in the game browser. Perhaps adding a Direct to IP option would be nice.

Same here I have been butting my head for 2 hours on this. I know I forwarded port correctly because i can use https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and toggle the port for bit torrent and I see it open and close aa I change it on my router. But nothing for 7777 and 27015. I don't know what else to do.

just start it and wait. if you are using the docker it downloadeds the game and takes awhile before its accessible. when you restart it , it verifys the files and again takes a while before you can see it

I'm not using a docker container. I'm running on a Windows 10 machine. I can use the same open-ports tool to check my ports. Both of my current 7 Days servers show up, but not Abiotic.

Also, in the logs there are at least 4 errors I'm seeing. Is this saying you can't have Steam running at the same time? seems weird.

Actually just tried it again, with the Steam Client closed, made no difference. Still getting the same errors such as Steam Dedicated Server API failed to initialize

Any luck with this? I'm having the same issue. Other services/ports work fine, but this one just doesn't want to be accessible from the outside.
Out of curiosity are any of you having trouble using a pfsense router?

The guide's I've seen say:

Forward your ports 7777 and 27015 to your server (they don't specify TCP or UDP so do both!)

Make sure you're opening the ports EVERYWHERE you might be blocked:

  • Windows Firewall / Linux Firewall (whichever you're using, if any)
  • Router Firewall / Port Forwards to server (if not on a dedi / VM intended as a server)
  • MAYBE your Modem too if that has it's own firewall!

Yes, I've forwarded those. Other game servers and general network services work fine, I've set stuff like this up many times before, but this one for whatever reason just does not respond despite working fine on the LAN. I really don't understand.

Trying to run this on a linux machine through an opnsense router, got the docker container setup and running, it correctly identifies the local IP judging by the logs, I can add the local IP to steam favorites and see it online with latency and the name I set in the compose file, but this "very convinient server browser" just refuses to show it in lan or internet tab. No other game has been such a PITA to setup, I host different internet facing, vpn accessible and local services and game servers, and none of those show any signs of there being any issue with my network. The decision to not provide a way to connect using an IP address is baffling to me. I get there is a p2p system for in-game hosting but dedicated server connections should just let you use the address, or at the very least implement steams server browser connect option(not just open the game). Don't even get me started on having to use windows as a dedicated server host...
