Fog Is to much
When ever fog hits, i just lose all interest in playing mainly because how dense it is.

it's very dense but at least the npcs have the same trouble as you.....

The fog sucks. Gimme a way to dispel it, or see through it easier, or something... I'm tired of it appearing while I'm exploring new areas and it makes it impossible to see anything for like 30 minutes. It is the only thing in the game that makes me groan and want to quit playing. It's anti-fun, imho.

It is designed to force you into an uncomfortable situation, is it working as intended, just maybe a little too much. One can just wait it out at the base right?

That's the anti-fun I mentioned. It's also anti-fun exploring new areas with practically 0 visibility, so in either situation it's just an annoying headache that forces the player to either AFK (boring) or stumble around blindly (reckless, bad idea).

The fog has improved from when it was first added in, where before you couldn't see anything past 12 feet or so.

It is still dense, but manageable, however it feels a bit too bright or washed out. After the change, it doesn't really stop me for exploring. It slows me down, since I can't see as far, but I'm not stuck at my base.

If anything, I've been running around in the fog looking for that big scary monster, so I can get the dang key from it.

If you can't see at all when it is foggy, you might want to adjust your monitor's or game's gamma or brightness settings, because it shouldn't be so crippling to force you to do nothing for 30 minutes straight. That would be insanely bad game design to suddenly force you to wait like that. Or stop slouching and look at your monitor at the proper angle, since some LCD monitors have terrible colors and brightness when looked at from an off angle.
Was just looking for something to help with the fog when I found this. Honestly its just too dense is the problem. It needs like another 10-15 feet of visibility and it would not be so bad. Fortunately I have only had it show up twice one of the times was right when I got back from flathill and I assume that happens 100% of the time so I have only had to deal with it once unscripted. Fortunately it seems to be a very rare event. Radiation leak on the other hand.... At least once a week...
Could use a fog lamp. You can see but every mob around can too.
One thing I did notice is it is significantly easier to see through the fog in the dark. Maybe add sunglasses or something that reduces the glare from it?

That's likely just a shader issue. When it is nighttime, the fog is hardly there, at least compared to the darkness effect. The only difference I see are the large floating dust motes and the lights in on my base have a reduced effect.

it was foggy when i went for the ornate chest in the truck in manufacturing, the soldiers manning the turrets shoots at me just fine despite the distance
Lost track of how many ingame weeks now and I've yet to see another fog event....

Losing my mind trying to "farm" synphonist key.

A sniper was able to kill me from far away through the fog..
So I'm new to the game and just encountered this fog, I just entered manufacturing when it happened, it's now made the game basically impossible for me and it's giving me a headache, I can't see anything beyond an arms length in front of me and the guys with guns completely wreck me because I can't see where they are and just run into them.

Is there a way to force disable it?

No, just wait it out.
Later in the game You can kill enemies that spawn only in fog, and they drop keys to open chests
I use reshade to make the game look what I consider MUCH better, from cartoon (cell shading) to HDR to make dark areas much darker and lighter highlights lighter (alongside some other stuff like saturation etc).

With HDR, as well as Ambient Light, the Fog is absurd because of the brighter whites, making it impossible to see more than like 5 feet in front. Unfortunately this means for 90% of the game the filter looks much better imo, but with Fog I have to turn it off.

Even with it off it's annoyingly dense. I don't really like it, I feel like it should be more of an atmospheric affair with some visibility issues but not like you have a constant fog machine 10 feet in front of you blowing it in your face. Even Flathill was nowhere near that foggy.

I think it could use further reduction for sure. With or without my filters.
