Oh I thought it was just a world bug with me, thank God I'm not the only one! I couldn't for the life of me figure what I broke, but maybe it was just the update itself after all? Was playing a Single player world, for what it's worth.

They might have broken duct tape repairing altogether when trying to fix repairing guns with duct tape.

Oh maybe this could help them track it down! I know they added a special repair kit just for guns, so maybe it did break the whole system! I haven't gotten around to finding a gun myself since I'm still new but I think I'll wait for a hotfix since I tend to rely a lot on duct tape at this point.

Yeah Im also getting this bug, unfortunately

Yup, the recent hotfix broke duct tape. Used to be able to repair guns with it (and likely other things) but I can't do anything with it now.

Edit: It is so broken that the game doesn't even bother checking to see if you have any or not when you try to fix something with Duct Tape. Usually it would give an error if you don't.

Thankfully the Repair Bench works, but that means no in the field repairs or early on repairs until you can make that bench.

Just got the game and I was wondering why there was a right-click option and nothing was happening on tools when it was used.

Yup, as the item description says,
"Used in crafting recipes and can repair items in a pinch."

It only repairs 5 durability, which is OK enough for early on or when needing something working right now.

Honestly, you aren't missing out on too much if you didn't use it for repairs. People have use up too much tape for repairs and wound up lacking when they needed it.

Seems like it's better to use than at early game then beating monsters and boxes with broken tools for a minute straight, which is what my problem is.

got the same problem. by the way, does the new repairkits drop for you? i ran 2 times rise and train killing the enemies and i got not a single one of these, making the antique shotgun quite useless if you cannot repair it.

Does anyone know if the devs are on top of this right now, or if there is a servicable fix that exists?

You'd either have to check out their Discord, or ask someone that's on there (obviously I'm not on their Discord) to be sure.

Given how fast the last patch was, and how bad this one is (strongly impacting the early game), I'd imagine another hotfix is on the way. I think the major delay to it is making sure the patch counts (adding in other fixes along the way) and whatever stuff they'd have to do on their end to get it published.

I was wondering why early recipes didnt seem to have repair options.

Apart from the ducktape why cant we repair these early items with some of their components atleast on the crafting station?

Like the improvised club is literally just pipes screwed together, why cant we just unscrew the broken bit and replace it with a new pipe? Why do we need a station for it?

if i had to guess, because the first anvil and the rest of the component is placed in the cafeteria area so you can get the repairstation relativly quick and when ducttape still worked you could repair all basic weapons with it.

Early on, it is supposed to be the 'just repair it with duct tape' trope. This keeps going until you either find an anvil through the quest line, or you are rewarded much sooner via exploring and being a bit clever.

As for that specific example with the Pipe Club, given it is a pipe, pressure gauge, and glue to make, the threads are likely glued together and can't be unscrewed.

In short, it's game mechanic progression. It follows its own slightly modified and simplistic logic.
