where to find keys
the update notes say the cacophonous and ornate chests can be opened with keys, has anyone figured out where to get those?

What if they drop by using the scarecrow on them?

The drop rate is way too low for those keys. It would be nice, if there was an option to increase it. I hunted a lot of order captains, and got only one key from them. I didn't get one for the cacophonous chests yet.

Yeah, the key grind feels a bit real here.

Though I my case (and others playing on an old save) the drop rate feels disproportionately bad, because we are now trying to farm those keys for its own sake, rather than being a natural drop while doing other things, like progressing and exploring the game.

Also I really really hope that the key drop is not tied to how you kill them, like with the Rat's backpack.

What's that about rat backpack that requires specific ways of killing?
I was wondering why i got multiple suites but 0 backpacks.

Oh dear...

Well... uh, you need to,
Hit The Rat with a net
then kill him with blunt weapon damage while netted
Assuming you did it right, and nothing else kills him, you should easily get the backpacks.

Yeah, it's... weird, and no logic in the game would even hint at that. You kind of find out via blind luck.

Personally I beat them with the rat scanner since they drop it anyway, but you have to make sure you're at least not using a blunt weapon with a secondary damage effect like fire/electricity, too.

It still works with multi-damage blunt weapons, but you have to kill them with the swipe and not the aftertaste. I was able to regularly get rat packs by doing one-hits on rats with a thermal mallet.

Tge funny thing is, that me and my friend did it in the demo successfully (because there were not many options back then), and in current playthrough we forgot about net launcher pretty quickly and was trying to farm rats as much as we can, without any success.
With proper procedure though, rats drop backpacks in 50% cases it seems.

From what iv been told, you need to NET HIM with the net Launcher, then Beat him to death with a Blunt Object. The TRICK however is that the Rat needs to die from BLUNT DAMAGE. So.... ya got to be careful he doesn't die to the Electrified Net or any Fire or Lighting damage your weapon may possess (if nothing else feel free to drain the battery on such a weapon then use it to beat them to death)

At least this is what iv been told, can't say iv had much luck though.

Aight ill just net him and beat him to death with sledgehammers lmao

I went through this same journey, and I can confirm it works. I have now gotten the Rat Pack on multiple different runs.

At first, I was using the fire hammer, with no success (because of fire damage getting the kill.) Even still, it doesn't work 100% of the time with a non-elemental blunt weapon because the electricity from the net might get the kill.

But, as jbwjr said, if you get the finishing hit with a non-elemental blunt weapon while the dude is caught in a net from the net gun, the rat pack will drop.

You know the answer to his question was literally the previous post, above his post, right? All he had to do was look up and mouse over the spoiler text.
