Singleplayer job
Whats the good singleplayer job in your opinion? I took Botanist with Wrinkly Brainmeat and Decathlon Competitor. But jobs and traits dont feel very impactful tbh.

Chef, or crafting level 3 job (I forgot what it's called in English). Then just choose the trait that +++ extra experience; the rest doesn't make much of a difference:lunar2019grinningpig:

i'd recommend going with either ( lab assistant ) or ( summer intern ), purely for the perk points available, and not being locked out of / into any set perks.

stealth cuz it sound op

I took a Summer Intern and gave it the perks that reduced the need for sleep/bathroom breaks along with Wrinkly Brainmeat and the GATE Self-Defense Course, at the low, low cost of Slow Healing. The extra experience and 'up time' makes up pretty handily for the lack of starting skills after the first couple days, to the point where I wonder why you'd choose anything else. Skill XP's not really that hard to come by (and neither are medical supplies once you know where to look), so trading perk points for skill levels doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

I can assure you it's not.
Stealth I feel is one of the stats that needs some work, because not only is it slow to level, but there's no real advantage to sneaking past things anyway since the later enemies typically drop items you need.

the main benefits of stealth, from what i've noticed are:
-- sneak attack damage.
-- rolling.
-- not triggering traps or carbuncles.
-- moving faster while crouched.

that's about all the use it has at the moment.

Summer Intern, because extra trait points are far more valuable than a few starting skills that you will get over time anyway. Traits are super impactful if you choose them well, but are still not essential. I always make sure to pick wrinkly brainmeat and the fanny pack, the one with extra carry weight is good for singleplayer as well.

fanny pack is a must IMO, everything else will level but those 2 extra slots are super useful for SP

this is the most-optimised perk and job-class loadout i've found so far:
-- ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3246527353 ).
it was an tossup between +3 extra damage with all melee weapons, or +20% EXP for all skills, and the exp proved more essential. ( need all the exp you can get, with the skills needing over 23,000 exp each to max level them. ).
CombatWombat May 14, 2024 @ 8:48am
Intern and then all the perks you can't level.

This is pretty nice, but personally I'd substitute slow healer for Hemophiliac. You still only bleed pretty rrely if you pick it, while slow healer impacts your game much more harshly.

And from experience, Lead Belly isn't all that important, even with dry skin. There's plenty of clean water early game and as soon as you unlock soup you can use tomato soup for tons of easy hydration.

Self Defense feels similarly low impact as soon as you get to manifacturing and your melee weapons deal 20 damage anyway. I like using Buff Brainiac instead of it, cause hauling stuff around in singleplayer is annoying enough as is.

Botanist with traits for cooking and first aid. I grow good. Too good, in fact. I had to let my super tomato plants die because I was making more than I can store in my fridge. I can't be bothered to turn all of them to seeds because too much clicks. I also can't eat them all because I get full before I can even go through all the tomato.

It seems like the general consensus is to perk into stuff that you couldn't otherwise level up or stuff which would improve your overall economy, at the cost of sleep/hunger/thirst rates, and the low levels provided by job selections aren't really worth the loss of points

when exp is an non-factor, this ended up being the optimal from my testing:
-- ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3246753535 ).
seems regardless of exp or no exp, these factors remain the same:
-- summer intern.
-- iron gut.
-- extra inventory slots.
-- nothing that debuffs exp gain, or limits skill acquisition.
-- less bleed chance.

beyond that, it's up to preference essentially.
