Leylak here is quite annoying. Fortunately, he's extremely easy to deal with: Just don't stand directly in front of him, and have a staring contest with him. After 10-15 seconds of staring, he'll vanish, though he'll be back... You can build the X-Ray turret after inspecting the containment measures that failed to release him, and that will automatically remove him if it gets near the turret for your base, as well as make him drop an item you'll need later.
I have the recipe for the Xray thing, but none of the ingredients. Besides, how would I craft in my base if it comes to my base to attack me?
I think he can't be stared off if he's *already* attacking you- You have to catch him before he does that. He does periodically make noise. I agree though, he's very annoying: Prior to unlocking the X-ray turret, he basically exists to punish you for going AFK.
I have noticed it may take longer for it to disappear when glaring at it from a greater distance, but trust me, it will disappear. However, it will keep going towards you and ignore your stares if there is glass in the way. You need line of effect, and not just line of sight.
If it still moves forward after you are staring at it, and there is nothing in the way, then that's a bug and it needs to be reported. From my experience, that thing shouldn't be that much if an issue once you know what to do (which some of the logs about it should give you an idea on what to do).
I found the Leyak to not be too annoying since I more or less understood what not to do (by accidentally doing it) and I prioritized trying to find the means to build the defenses. Once you have the X-Ray Lamp you can kinda not worry about the Leyak since a good zap with the light banishes him.
The leyak's sight detection is a bit odd in that it uses center of mass, which is right below the leyak's head rather than at its head (as if the game is treating it like a rectangle as of this post).
If the leyak has been angered, and you don't have xray stuff on your person, your only option is to run. Thankfully it loses the ability to track players through walls when angered, so if you can break line of sight for a while, it backs off.
