Or use traps \ crossbow.
Later when you unlock the Electric Thrower they become a joke.
"But wait," I hear you say. "They have way too much health to stealth kill with any weapon." And you're right.
But if you crouch at the side of the pod and stab it from behind, with anything other then a heavy weapon, it'll get stunlocked and unable to turn to properly detect you with it's light-up vision cone, so every hit is a stealth hit. Sure, you end up stealth-stabbing them a good 10, 20 times, but it still counts.
But if you want to farm their drops and you aren't confident in that, step up a blade trap and stand on the other side of it. You don't need to wait for night when your traps run out of power- Just stab the pod in the daytime until the robot wakes up to fight.
This also works very well, though you can only farm this one bot once per respawn, which I think is once per day.
Electric Water hazard,
Walking them into 3 trip mines,
All are good early game ways of dealing with them.
And yes, the Electro-Thrower later on in the game is good vs them, maybe a bit too good.
Well, they DID nerf it in the latest patch. Though honestly, tell me: By the time you got it, were security bots *really* still a problem for you?
The only time I bothered to set up security bot defences was in the labs, where bots will activate even during the daytime. Otherwise it's not too hard to avoid them at night.
I was in the process of getting parts to make a two Tesla Coil trap I could deploy, I triggered one of the aggressive bots at the Lab Sector, used my best weapon which was the Electro-Thrower, and killed it as if it was some nOOb.
...
I then used the bot's parts to finish the coils, make whatever item I needed progress further with the CPU, and mounted my now useless trap setup out of the way, unconnected, near my bed, in case I actually do need it later on.
Out of the 60-70 of play on this game, I think I actually used 4 traps, 3 trip mines (which are also mothballed) and one cheeky Tesla Coil to zap unwanted guests at the front shutters.
Except he's not talking about struggling to kill them, he's responding to the above comment
Is context *really* still a problem for you?
