Barricades are useless now after update
The robots make a beeline after them and tear them down even when they are now in their zone. Like what’s the point of early barricades then?

*not in their zone

Hasn't this always been the case? Any hostile sees anything you placed down and will try to destroy it with a vengeance.

What changed on your end?

protect them with traps.

Actually, I think I know what happened.

For those that have lurked here for awhile, you know I said to move your Crafting Bench close to the window facing the chasm to despawn the security bot near that one awesome security office?

Yeah, that got patched. I just saw an Order Solider raid to what basically amounted to a cripple fight right next to the Security Bot station. It lasted all night, mostly because I finally got tired of them lasting so long and took them all out.

So, yeah... I think OP is right (I mean, he was to start with, but more so), given bots will always be around, even if you make a base near by.

Yea I had to move my base from the office/data center kitchen area to that little locker room area by the swimming pool because of this update. The robot would attack the barricade that was mandatory for that kitchen then come to kill me. Anyway I just moved to the elevator side access level 1 loft space. You know the one with the ladder and it over looks every corridor and is cramped. Better than dealing with bots

Yeah... yeah, that'll do it. :steamsad:

Though have you thought about making your base above the Data Farm floor?

No. Like on top of the vents?

I put two tesla coils in the hallway leading down there (where the elevator to far gardens is too) and they clear everything from the security bot to invasions that try to come through.

Yeah, this.
You go up that lift on the side and can access the huge drop ceiling tiles. It is a bit awkward to get to, but that also means other things will have a hard time getting up there.

Barricades have two uses.

1. To place in front of doorways to buy you some time while the enemy attacks it.
2. To place BEHIND doorways (with doors) so the enemy can't open the door and get in.

The second one is what really works. In fact it works on every enemy in the entire game, except an enraged -Redacted- after you eat an eye fruit. Since he can just -Redacted- when in that state.

I upgrade all my defense with 2 sandbag wall, 1 leveled disk turret, 2 tesla coil, 1 chopper fan.
I watch them defense against bots, soldiers, alien, and zombies, all works well, the fan will took some damage, but so far it can stay standing all night. The power is problem tho, as 3 makeshift battery just isn't enough, I will have to craft some more and ran out of material

Slight spoiler: Most anything can kick doors in (including yourself), so having the barricade behind the door just buys you a little time as they have to charge up for a door kick, and then attack the barricade.

There are several cheese strats in the game, but trying to keep unbreakable doors from opening isn't one of them.

I guess technically you can use an upgraded battery for that (like the Carbon Battery), if three Small Batteries aren't helpful.

It is expensive, but it might suit that need in that case.
(I assume you have access to that kind of battery, given that you run into zombies)

Yeah. But almost nothing can move through doors, so just place the barricade past the point where the door is open and they can't edge past it on the sides with the (open) doors in the way.
