Battery power should not drain when butchering with powered sharp weapons
Currently, something like the Welding Spear or Electric Spear drains battery when used to butcher enemies. All this does is discourage butchering and require me to either charge the spear substantially more, or carry around a spear just for butchering.

Butchering an enemy should not drain the battery of spears.

Custom durability settings are kinda out of scope when we’re discussing what we think should be default.

Small repairs can be done with duct tape, but that’s not a perfect solution either. Neither is hauling battery and recharge station.

I guess the protagonist scientist cannot create a switch smaller than lever and that’s why EVERYTHING is always on.

And they’re probably not the only one, since the facility cuts power during the night. I wonder what all that night power used to go into...
Yea currently I just keep a 2nd sharp weapon with me or not use the Powered Spears at all.

Even Blunt Weapons could use an on-off setting as I use the Thermal Mallet for AoE box opening. It seems to have a longer battery life than the Powered Spears though.

I'm on the 2nd sharp weapon system also, and my suggestion would be to have an option to turn off the power to powered weapons (maybe a right-click option in the inventory or done with the reload hotkey?)

Yea the reload button should be the on-off switch as it's not used for melee weapons.

Also kind of odd that blocking replaces any extra ability of melee weapons if you use a shield. (And there's no block ability to level at all, meaning most people won't bother with shields) Doesn't help that the shield also blocks like 1/4th of your Screen.

It's getting better, but it is easy to miss that you can press H to holster your shield so you can use your RMB feature on other weapons (or tool weapons).

When you have a shield equipped, it does have a shield icon and whatever key you press to holster it.

WHAT I had no idea I was actually not taking any shields with me because of how much they block the screen when you're not using them except for the dinner tray one. (Only time I went back for a shield was during the sniper part because I had no idea how else to get pretty close to him)
it would be nice if we had a farcry animation option where you could press e on a corpse with a sharp object inhand and instantly butcher it for a little durability

the plastic tray blocks basically nothing. It may seem useless, but it blocks bullets just as well as a homemade riot shield while blocking only 1/8 of the screen

I just never block so I get no benefits from it and it slows me down.
Like it is basically cosmetic in my playstyle because I like to use the overpowered electric gun that makes all combat trivial (except the big purple guy I still had to cheese him with a door and it still took like 5-7 full recharges of the electric tesla gun)

No idea how you're meant to beat the purple guy without cheesing him except something lame like stack explosives or carry a full inventory of weapons so you can switch out when they break during combat because of the amount of HP he has.

I threw a single electro grenade at his nips. then back away while hitting with spear or using the electro gun and when it falls on its ass i give it insane backshots with the E.G.

The spear pushes away the big guy when hitting his weakspot. using the tray shield i can block the damage most of the time, bio legs block fall damage, electro gun dishes out the punishment. I didn`t need to even recharge it once (this is before patch, solo). The gun 1/3 full after it ended, spear was 2/3 full, 3 grenades used,

I saw a video of someone nuking the living ♥♥♥♥ out of this guy by using 6 electro grenades thrown at the crotch (whistle that is probably purple), gibbing it in under a minute.
i don`t actually remember if i had the legs or not. Maybe it was after patch, but my point still stands.

Yes, it's very annoying to lose the charge this way. I wish we had an option of a switch or a toggle for using charge on hits. Because knife takes an additional inventory slot and it's not an option.
THIS is, in my opinion, the optimal solution.

A toggle for "on-hit effect/no on-hit effect" would solve the issue losing charge with butchering, hitting boxes, and some enemies you might not feel like need the wasted charge (pests, for example)

also making fire not stick to the ground and instead stick to enemies ONTOP of the normal burning effect
So, if you are willing to take the time, Bolts can be thrown as darts, have a 100% recovery when thrown, and deal cut damage this way. Sawblades also chop up bodies VERY quickly, faster than melee does, but can't be thrown. Chopinators will usually butcher enemies immediately after death, especially robots, but need to be repaired a lot.

That was discussed on the first page of this post. Don't necro threads unless you have something valid to add. This post is over 2 months old.
