Controller support

Hi there! Can anyone tell me how the controller support is for this game? It says Partial Support, so I imagine it's mainly text input that's the issue, but I'm wondering if someone who has played it with a controller can give me some feedback, as I'm very interested in picking up a copy.

I've seen a few threads in the suggestions for them to improve controller support.
I had my controller in hand when I started the game and one of the analogue sticks was just mapped to mouse movement so I put it down after about 30 seconds. I would imagine based off what other people said that it's not worth trying to use a controller at this point.

Usually I get annoyed at using m&kb for first person games but this has been fine so far.

Thanks for the reply. I don't mind using M&K, but my kid isn't a huge fan of it, and prefers to play using a controller on a TV. Mouse and Keyboard on a sofa can be a bit annoying.

I did try searching for comments before I posted, but guess I did a poor job.

The survival game I find has the best controller support is Grounded. Hopefully they'll take some inspiration from that.

It's good but sadly in menus my game seems to try to switch between kbm and controller. I can't figure out why

I use a controller and it works perfect. Plus you can reset the keybinds for it to work to your needs.

yes i have the same problem while playing with controller its ok but while in menus its switches between mk and controller

This is really late and I apologize for that you may already have your answer. But I'm using my ROG Ally to try and play it and for the most part it works perfect until you get to the inventory menu you cannot and I can't figure out why for the life of me. Use anything to move anything around or fiddle around in your inventory. However I have not played in a while dk hopefully that was fixed

This is the only thing letting the game down for controller users. I'm not a developer but it seems easy enough to fix but it makes the game sadly unplayable with controller.

I just gave up and stopped playing. That's 5 of us in a friend group that skipped this game cause of this lol

I refunded the game back in August 2024 because of this issue. Thank you for letting me know it's still happening.

It's a shame, but maybe things will improve now that they announced console releases. Until then I'll have to skip it, unfortunatelly.

I've been playing exclusively with controller since EA release, it works fine for the most part, but could really use some more in-depth aiming sensitivity options (specifically needs options for an exponential response curve). Otherwise has been functional if occasionally buggy in menus, though even that seems to be less frequent these days.

Console release was announced last week, so it's possible controller improvements will come with that.

There's a setting to toggle hardware or software mouse in settings. After I changed it I was able to navigate the inventory screen without issue on xbsx controller. Hope that helps
