Exor quills?

Among resources I have never seen yet, there are apparently Exor quills? From the looks of it, it is the thing green Exors shoot at you. However, I've never got those, neither by cutting their corpses or interacting with environments. How do you get those?

they were in the 2nd playtest, although they weren't in the demo, and i'm yet to see them in the early access release.

You just keep cutting up the green ones. You'll get some eventually. As far as their uses, there's only one. You can make paint with it

I have a suspicion it will either be related to ammo for a new ranged weapon, or used as a component for something(other then paint).

I would hope so. They are only sharp projectiles that an alien creature uses as a weapon.

I got loads from cutting the green exor corpses, maybe its bugged?

This was relevant for EA release. They had a plenty updates since then, so maybe it got patched.

I wouldnt doubt it, i started a new game and used to get no weapon from The Order grunts, now they drop security pistols like nobodies business

That wasn't a bug, they rebalanced their loot drops.
