Would've thought there'd be more to the management aspect or ways to enhance it or alternate power sources but so far all I've found is the outlet to battery method.
Even later game the Pest Hamster Wheel is described as a temporary power solution.
I imagine it's another one of those things that'll be expanded upon as Early Access progresses.
Long story short, you need a little bit more than one Small Battery to last the night. I used a stopwatch, did the numbers, and posted my data and came up with this solution.

You have a battery at the base of your source and a battery at each device. The one at the base keeps the others topped off long enough to make it through the night.
Based on my numbers I came up with in the demo, you can tack on 5-6 devices (each with a battery) with one Small Battery at the base and still have it last throughout the night.
If you chain more than 2, you will lose a lot of your effective storage due to losses between the batteries, since they act like devices that need power as well.
It has been confirmed that there will be larger batteries.
In Manufacturing, unless there is a resource I've missed in the last 18 hours including our lovely invisible purple crystal powder friends then it's safe to say they come into play in the Labs.
