How do you farm Potatoes (Potato)

I had a single potato (first fridge, office level 2) and tried various ways to plant it and neither of them worked. Eventually I tried to salvage it in the Repair Station and it wasnt a bug, I only received a single bio scrap, like it said in the description.

Is there a way to farm Is there a way to find more of them?

This is really weird, since IRL you can plant parts of a potato (if it has eyes) and get more potato! Should be like the easiest to thing to grow.

Wish I could answer your question as I'm also trying to figure out if it can be planted.

But before you salvage anything. Just over the mouse on top of icon and you will see what it will be salvaged for.

I didn't tried to salvage 1 of the 2 potatoes I have found because I saw it wouldn't give me a seed (even if know a potato is the seed itself...) but would give me biomass.

Yes, I know. I wanted to try it, because it might be a visual bug as salvage works for other "vegetables" or plants that can be farmed

I'm assuming it was added in the recent patch, but you can now just directly plant a potato in a garden plot, no seeds needed.

Potatoes are tuberous, which is to say you just plant the entire thing and it grows a new plant

They work. Mousing over it, it even says it can be planted.

Grown a few and even made some baked potatoes and fries with them. When cooked, they do pretty well for hunger, unsurprisingly.

Exactly, they work since the last update, becuase we gave the feedback (like this post) about them not working

How do you make fries?

First you need to be skilled enough as a cook to make an oven, then stuff unlocks.
French Fries are stupidly easy given it is potato and salt; something you would have long run into by the time you unlock the crafting recipe for it.
