Where's the power cable?
I feel incredibly dumb, but I've been running laps trying to find the power cable in the tutorial, can someone point me in the right direction please? Thank you!

EDIT:

Nevermind, I hadn't realized I put the heater in front of the socket. I'll leave this here in case anyone else makes the same mistake I did.

I sorted it, I was under the impression I was supposed to put the heater where it was pointing to the power source so I ended up blocking the socket.

To be fair, the power outlets are bass awkards, and technically a gross electrical code violation it many countries.

Wouldn't have it any other way in this game!:steamhappy:

How did you manage to connect the cable to the heater? It keeps saying I need tech scrap

You press E. (as said in the HUD)

LMB click is the cable extension option, which needs one piece of tech scrap.

The cable comes out of the wall. Just hit use on the socket, then drag it roughly to the heater and it should snap itself into place when you click or use on the appliance itself, you even see the wire dangle partway through the floor when you've done it correctly. The wire is already inside the wall, you just have to drag it out.

Note: if your heater is still in a pale blue "Blueprint" mode, you need to grab the nearest screwdriver and hit your primary fire on the heater until it's built (no need for extra components, it should have been crafted with the stuff you need already unless there's some goofy world setting you turned on)

If you need a refresher on how to do that, you can do the short intro tutorial again.

To add to what the others said, the outlet has a range of what it can reach. So the heater needs to be within that range, so the power cord will reach the heater.

I'm stuck. I can drag the cable just fine, but it doesn't snap into place on the heater at all. The heater is in range, clearly, and I think I see where it has to connect alright, but I've been pressing 'E' for minutes now with it never connecting. Am I missing something? Or is this a known bug?

Post a pic.

At this point something is clearly missing, but we can't tell what it is.

And no, it shouldn't be bugged. Things plug in perfectly fine.

Ok, I know what the problem was: I apparently quit banging on the heater with a screwdriver just before it finished unpacking or setting up or whatever it was doing after coming out of my inventory. I think I find the visuals a tad misleading insofar as when you package something, it looks like a package, but then when I took that heather out of my inventory it didn't look like a package anymore. Silly me.
