Please have NPC companions/followers. Thanks.
I played HL when it first came out. Now I'm at an age where my game time and patience with people is limited. So as much as I love the multiplayer aspect of this game, the reality is I will be playing this game mostly single player. I don't know if you already have it, planning on implementing it, or if this request is new. The request being to please have a feature like in HL where you can find and rescue guards and scientists, keep them alive and have them follow and help you. If I remember right the scientists healed you, and I think the guards gave you ammo? Might be wrong on the guards.

Either way, I would love to see that and also improve on it. Have the ability to issue them commands, give them items, weapons and gear, have options that can be toggled for their needs. Have them give quests for items that can reward you with recipes. Have some that are able to craft rare items or help get you into secure areas. Have some give you plans/suggestions on how to handle a creature/situation or on what to do next.

As fun as it will be to try and get out of the facility it would be a lot more fun if the stakes were higher by wanting to find and rescue all of the other survivors and make sure they make it out as well.

Abiotic Factor is a survival crafting experience for 1-6 players set in the depths of an underground research facility.
From the Steam Storepage. This game is heavily coop PVE for 1-6 players. FOR NOW atleast. It could happen since multiple EA roadmap objectives are hidden

Something I saw when Wanderbots started his playthrough (content creators had early access), was that there was an NPC crawling around needing food.

Video ended w/o feeding the NPC, but not without trying. By the time he got back to the guy, he crawled away else where.

So make of that as you may.

Here in a very short while, the game will be released for EA and we'll know for sure.

......lol oof that's embarrassing. Hey um you might want to read and comprehend that snippet before going on to say the complete opposite of what it says. The game is not a heavily coop PVE. It is a survival crafting experience with the option of having other players, the maximum being 6. It's first and foremost a single player HL inspired survival crafting game. Which was learned by everyone who actually played it when they had their demos out. It's the same as HL was, a single player game with the option to host a server and have a limited number of others join you. So please get your facts straight. Why did you even reply in the first place?

It makes no sense. Even if it were as you falsely think it is, that it's 2-6 and not 1-6 that it somehow invalidates my post. It doesn't NPC's in coop would be awesome, as it is awesome in games like conan exiles. So did you just reply to embarrass yourself? You should probably consider the next time you have to urge to say something, just don't.

Damn, that escalated a bit.

I think the one that should be embarrassed the most is the one that wrote that overdone wall of text.:steamfacepalm:

I played the demo (and the 2nd play test) mostly solo, and I can agree that co-op play is not required to progress or to have fun, but is really nice to have. However, writing up an essay to tell someone how wrong they are about 'heavily co-op' tells more about the writer than the target.

As for the original topic, I heard that the NPCs in the demo and play test were mostly placeholders, so I'm eager to see how things look now, and wonder if some player suggestions made it into this EA build! :steamhappy:
Guys calm down, just get the game and play :steamhappy:

Says the guy who not only has a wall of text but a heavily formatted one. But yeah sure take the side of the arrogant troll. Or are you just being ironic? Because it's quite ironic of you to post a wall of text that attempts to discredit me defending myself against a troll because there are a lot of words.

I do like irony.

I sometimes see it as life's way of telling us mere humans jokes.

I also try to keep things formated well for ease of reading.

Only if they can somehow get the voice actors from Half Life to voice them :lunar2019grinningpig:

what with all the hostility over a topic about wanting npc followers? really weird escalation

Agreed, but there is a Suggestions section of the Steam discussions this thread would be better suited for.

I hope we can tame and raise the aliens, they're supposed to evolve from the small creatures, so maybe in the future you can trap a bouncy boi and raise him into a dog or monk?
