Just grill up meats gained from Antiverse II critters.
Not saying it isn't worth doing after getting to the end (current end), but for an out of context "Best way to level up cooking quickly?" advice that's not something I'd remotely suggest; at least for now. Maybe after several more areas are opened up.
Otherwise, I can understand why people are having XP issues with cooking. On my first EA solo run, I picked up the Hobbyist Chef trait (gives like 2x XP or something), and goofed around for awhile, and just so happened to get lvl 10 cooking around when I was close to getting access to the (very annoying) parts needed to make an oven. I'd feel really sorry for anyone that didn't take that trait, because the level needed to get an oven feels rather ridiculous (even in the best of circumstances), along with the weird part hunt. Sometime the game logic feels a bit off.
Though, the parts needed to make an oven are indeed silly - especially when food is only a problem for huge parties, and complete beginners.
First thing that comes to mind for weird game logic is the 2nd and 3rd battery types you get, which felt too much like a formulaic 'get next tier of items, shoehorn that into better stuff for basic incremental gains' that's seen in many games. The formula isn't bad in of itself, and has been used pretty well in other games, but how it is used here feels dissatisfying at times. I'm not the only one that felt like you should get more gains out of the (at the time rare) parts you make out of them. The game logic of using an advanced and dangerous Power Cell for a basic mid tier battery that can't power two devices all night feels like quite the letdown.
And there are a few other examples as well, but I shouldn't derail the topic any further.
