Try tweaking your settings. I got a guide setup on engine.ini and scalability to tone down the crazy and resource heavy lighting system.

How is that possible? The graphics are literally from 20 years ago? I mean I'll check out the video and hope it works but it seems ridiculous they made the game in this style yet it punishes hardware
Lumen and Raytracing forcibly enabled will do that to your system.
Even if the game looks and runs like Half Life 2... If you force certain settings or features it will really mess with your hardware.
For instance raytraced lights.
You will notice that when night happens your performance shoots up like crazy.
This game is styled from a type of graphics over 20 years ago, but does not remotely use them. It has advanced graphics features seen in modern games. The lighting for example isn't simplified and faked like it is in HL, it is painstakingly calculated.
Honestly, if the graphics fooled you into thinking it was from an older time, it did it's job in invoking that feeling. Maybe a bit too well.
To give you an idea of what you are facing, this game is built on Unreal Engine 5. Where as HL1 launched on a heavily modified Quake engine with back then new graphics features. I mean, the Unreal logo is right there as you start the game, but I honestly wouldn't blame a fellow gamer that has been desensitized by such splash logos.
I don't know if it's a problem with the settings in the game or just because it's still early access? Anyone figure this out? If it's one setting I can turn off I can work with that.
I had to switch to OBS and haven't gone back.
Yeah, that’s definitely an option I’ve considered but I have always tried to just use GeForce since it’s already running rather than add another program.
I did turn down some settings and that helped.
Another option I might try is my SteelSeries software that my mouse uses. It seems to have some kind of capture built in too.
There's a bug, from what I read, in 3.28 that causes this; for me, it affected most Unreal engine games, including Deep Rock Galactic and Abiotic Factor.
Since rolling back to 3.27 - and never touching that program again - I've had no issues.
Awesome info thx!
