Probably other ways that aren't coming to mind right now due to how tired I am but others can swing those at you.
Ideally, workbench is quick to set up and a plug strip with the stove top shouldn't take long either. If I'm not mistaken as well I think the stove at the start works right off the bat so you can kill some peccaries or the smaller thingos for their meat, grab a frying pan and just cook there too...I think it's the stove closer to the pool that you need a reinforced hose to use.
Stove at the start is the one they teach you to cook with btw, the one with some rubble fallen in on it from the ceiling in the large greyish kitchen area with a freezer and all that stuff.
Now that I think about it as well I'm fairly sure you can cook meat with heaters too.
yea i found that place, but those i kill dont seem to respawn for over 2 hours been running round anywhere and no enemies.,.
but thank you for the heads up bro!. <3
I guess you kinda just utilize vending snackies as a temporary relief early on while you cobble together a temp or permanent base and begin eating cooked foods and then into soups. Once soups start getting made, especially if you're solo you should never starve again, it'd be really difficult to.
I think you find a good deal of spare change in filing cabinets mostly if you end up running out so just always keep searching them and there should be enough vending machines around to keep your hunger topped with ease.
I played default settings as well if that's any help.
Loot everything for items and money. use the money for food if you need to, its the only thing the money is good for.
i have a hard time to loot everything... im constantly running out of inventory space... i have a backpack but that only adds 3 slots... didnt know that money where only for food, good to know thank you sir.
To make the battery to open the door, the game has taught you how to make a crafting bench, and taught you it needs power. Meaning anywhere with a power socket, you can make your base. Find someplace secure, enclosed or not out in the open hallways, with a socket, set up a base there, and you should start with, the basic Recipe to build small storage boxes. 3-4 of those small boxes should be all you need, and note you can't stack them if they are blueprints, but if you build each one first then place the second one, you can stack them, so don't need much room for them as you can stack 3 of them easily enough.
That will help with the storage space issue, till you get better backpacks for more slots.
For food, there should be a few kitchen areas with pots and pans. You go through a kitchen area at the beginning to get out of the Caffitaria and into the room you needed a battery to unlock the door for example, I believe a pan is on the stove there. Not sure if that stove works. But when you find the Offices, you'll find a kitchen area next to the locker room and pool that will have at least 1 pan and 1 pot as well, and I believe the stove there will work, in case you can't build your own yet.
From there, just slaughter monsters for their meet. Especially the Dog enemies.
<3 !!!
You can what now?
i bearly never find meat.. all i find is the small jumping asses that you cant eat, and robots..
Knifing Pests and the beast-like Peccary will often give you meat you can cook.
If you're shy of a knife you can find some in the that starting area where they teach you how to cook for a tutorial and also in the kitchen nearby the pool. I know there's another area after you emerge from the first totally not Xen (Anteverse) portal above the electrified water that's another kitchen with a knife or two in it as well.
You don't need high cooking or bladed or anything to consistently get meat, just a bladed implement to cut up the bodies for pest rump and peccary chops etc etc.
so i just kill those jumping fukers with a nife?.. that explains it, i always toss that net on them..
