Burn me once , shame on you.
Burn me twice , shame on me.
I get where you are coming from, but it's very much you're loss! Deep Field Games has been pretty competent with their development for as long as I can tell; and I played back in Playtest 2. Might have something to do with the New Zealand C.O.D.E. organization helping them out. Plus, it isn't like the Steam reviews aren't giving you any hints to go on.
Also, not everyone in the team was involved with a flopped or canceled game. If you did some research (like how a proper scientist should) you'd see that the listed devs for some of the games are a little different. As if this team pulled in other devs to join them...
Lastly, making a game as an indie dev is hard, and games often fail, so seeing back-then no-name devs failing should not be a shocker.
Though, you don't have to wait long for your full release. This game has no signs of being in development hell and will easily be out this year.
