My problem with Leyak
The problem I've with Leyak is probably how frequently I have to deal with him. After my 60 hour playtime, I've encounter him at least 40 time. It's just too many for a single player.

I honestly think it needs to stop spawning after you've done what you need its essence for, i don't see any real point in it continuing to spawn after that.

Devs need to add a new item that you find the recipe for in one of the rooms near security, that allows you to build a necklace that stops them from spawning whilst wearing it - or as a ring and add a new ring slot.

Or just have a sidequest of sorts to let us make a containment field/ room for the bugger. Least we'll have the option to free roam without an adoring fan wheezing behind us while giving us the option to let it loose again for when we need its essence again (or when we hate ourselves that much).

I'd have Leyak get lost after you unlock what needs to be unlocked, but then have a one-time spawn if you eat a Greyeb, then it leaves again until you consume another.

I don't mind Leyak usually (my base defences are normally fine), but I've had Leyak literally spawn right beside me in my base and then kill me, which is no fun (it spawned within the safe zone). I do think Leyak comes about too frequently though. Would like to be able to re-contain it at some point and not have to deal with it again.

I think the leyak frequency problem is that it seems to be tuned around the idea that a group of 6 players should all reasonably see it within a play session. But the consequence of lowering the frequency for a solo player means an inherently slower progression overall due to the leyak essence door.

I think there's just needs to be a story way to permanently trap them, perhaps in the lab where you first learn the lore? Then if you do need more of his spicy red orbs you can just release them again for a bit.

Or we could learn how to create our own large storage facility for him and have to kite him inside or something, then you'd need to make sure you keep power going to it or he'll escape. That sounds fun.

That easily gives more importance to farming a Greyeb as it encourages more spawns. As of now, with how frequently it comes up, I was able to get all four Essences within an hour- much faster than it took to grow a Greyeb fruit that the effort felt wasted.

That's pretty much why I tell people to restart their game if needing to farm that essence for that specific part of the game.

Leyak glitches out a few hours after the game has been running, and stops showing up at all. Even with that, I still have a stack almost another half stack (which a stack is 64 units) of the stuff.

I stopped collecting them after a point and they sit in a toxic pile near the doors until they despawn (the latest pile is in Laser Lab while I was experimenting with the puzzle).
