[spoiler] I have a question about IS
I am aware that there are still many ISs missing and delving into them and really ISs is an interesting topic to explore... But I noticed that... many of them are decoration and do not do much... An example of Son The old shotgun . It's an IS, right? Isn't it supposed to be a foreign object? does something strange...? According to the report, they are experimenting with it... but I have a feeling this is an excuse to give you a new shotgun...

Another IS that puzzled me and I wanted to know more about them and that seemed like a decoration to me is... specimen IS-0111... I mean, I read the report on it but... it can't be interacted with. with that. , it doesn't interact with you... I don't see any interaction.

Room IS-0700... apart from making a strange sound, it has no influence on your character...

IS-0042 or The Lost Dog? You can use it as a decorative object but... apart from that?

Maybe I'm the one who is very shortsighted or I'm being too picky but I think that in the section of some IS there is very little work, at least in terms of interactions, in the lore it is very cool and interesting.

Not every anomalous object needs to do something, the lost dog being a great example for that. I think it's great for world building and mystery to have IS that aren't just enemies or tools for the player. It shows the player just how far in over their own head they really are. Besides that, it's likely that some of the existing IS will be expanded upon in the future, especially the ones we've already seen in containment, but can't access yet.

For the shotgun's case, it's mentioned in a recording by manse that it used to have anomalous properties (that are implied to have been quite desastrous), but hasn't shown them in a very long time. Of course it's an excuse to give the player a shotgun, but I find it pretty well executed.

Not going to lie, first time running into that gun, I thought that maybe it would spontaneously recreate the anomalous effect it did in the past, and left it there; along with the cube because that too had a warning on it.

Turns out I more or less needed both for the next area. :steamfacepalm:

I think I should at least do something anomalous, no matter how small, others more, others less... that's why they are anomalies, not an abstract art exhibition, I think.

That shotgun is pretty much a Chekhov's Gun now.

When will it do it's thing again?

I'm still ringing the bell every time I come home in the hopes that something happens.

I really hoped the painting did what they talk about in the memos, would have been so much more immersive.

The gun was described as "doing nothing anymore but surely did once" So I'm ok with it being just a gun.

I think the funniest thing for the shotgun would be that its anomalous properties are just convincing everyone that it used to be anomalous.

I can see something like that being revealed in a future email.

I rung the bell without thinking and was like, "Aw ♥♥♥♥." Suprisingly, I've yet to die through anomalous means.

pretty sure the bell was't the anomaly contained in that cell

I'm pretty sure that was the case, given how weird and uncanny the 'trapped scientist' was before and after resetting the security system, plus Dr. Manse's log but with how the bell was presented and named, it does make some people wonder.
