Are you talking about creating an account and using the client that Steam's gives you?
Because Steam's region only links you to the publisher related to the region you have in settings, if what the developer said is truth, you can still create an account on https://na.orcsmustdie.com/#!/en or http://en.omd.gameforge.com/ and download and log on its respective client.
Edit:
Copypasted the files from Steam to the standalone launcher, ran the exe with the parameter -repair and I can play now on NA.
I don't see to have much ping by the way.
