Is this game dead?
Title is pretty self explanitory but...
I played this game a long while ago and I loved it but I took a break for a month to play another game, came back to see PVP gone and all my progress gone. So I stopped playing. Now im back and I want to know if the game is worth playing. Seeing the mixed feelings in the reviews and in the discussion has got me wondering if it is worth it.

Dead and worth playing don't necessarily go hand in hand w/ this game. Early/Mid game is the fun part though some struggle w/ difficult early on. Despite their monthly patches for the last year
the late game remains bad and a lot of the playerbase has quit putting the game in a somewhat dead state.

If you are just looking to have some fun w/ a hero/tower defense its worth playing, but if you are trying to find a long term game this ones not looking too bright.

They have added in a new group feture to the game so that you can find people to play with easer.

It's not a PvP and never should have been. PvP mode was an experiment/trial that didn't work out and was abandoned after alpha. Orcs has always been PvE (Orcs 1&2) and Co-op (Orcs 2) which is what the fanbase wanted for Orcs unchained. The game is perfectly playable single player and a lot of fun. Or you can easily hook-up with randoms in-game, steam friends, or guild mates for 2-3 player co-op.

Patches and updates are fairly regular. There's currently at least 100-200 hours worth of gameplay without getting bored if you buy the hero pack. Otherwise I would say an easy 50 hours of solid game-play if you don't spend a single cent.

It baffles me why people think a game is dying because end-gamers are moving on to new games. This is perfectly natural after you've thrashed a game for 200+ hours. Nothing lasts forever. But as with pretty much all F2P games there is a large contingent of whiney end-gamers who ♥♥♥♥♥ and moan because devs can't keep up with their constant demands for new content.

Otherwise there is certainly a large playerbase of new & mid players and I have no problems hooking up with randoms in the lobby for co-op. So to answer your question: It's F2P. It costs nothing to install and try. So why don't you see for yourself ?

Well I understand that and I know the game has always been PvE but I still think they shouldn't have just dropped PvP they could have kept it in but just stop updating it.

Without PVP this game is just a grind, and no more sense

Steam figures do not include those playing on the OMD stand-alone launcher

The general match making for random people can take a few mins, but it's pretty easy to just ask in global chat for a person to join you and help claer maps. Many high level players often ask to assist people too if you want to just beat a level giving you a tough time.

If you like action tower defence it is great game and worth it. It is true f2p with no ingame mechanics that push you into paying.
PvP was removed but it was only for good. Game has more players since (that what I heard).
Now we have Sabotage mode, when two teams compete on PvE, where you can be mean to 2nd team and drop on them extra orcs, bosses, debuffs to help them loose their game.

Which, like myself, are a minority at best.

And before anyone even attempts it, don't bother arguing otherwise because I will not believe that this game a sizable player base outside of Steam.

It occurs to me that those values themselves might not be realistic, because technically, I "play" everyday, but what i'm actually doing is login in and closing the game.

So of those few people, how many just logged in for the bonus?

i played about a year ago, after the pvp was removed. game had potential, and i liked it. Problems were with early game difficulty. People were put into matches with low level traps that were underpowered.

Also there was a large variety of maps with difficult to understand pathing, with no real prep time to figure it all out before starting. It seems they designed the game to always have one unattended path, paired with weak traps and a confused early game population meant a majority of matches failed...it also took a long time just to find a match.

I trailed off playing just as i got to mid game, players were better and matches wouldnt fail as much but also it was very difficult to find a game..

The other game out there like this i feel is too trap heavy meaning i can do nothing and do fine as long as the traps are well placed and good. This game seems to have really weak traps and by design more paths than a full match can defend...

Oh and if you go solo its nearly impossible.

Hope they fixed some of these issues. Its enjoyable, especially that first map that you can solo easy...
