How do you get batteries?

I am pretty new to this game and the tutorial just had a battery laying on the ground. I tried doing Chill mode and Survival mode but eventually just got over ran by enemies and couldn't handle defending with just discs. I made worker bots but i had to yank the battery out of the refinery and put it in the factory. When i got to 10 bots my battery disappeared and my bots were all in my face and I could barely throw discs and ended up dieing. Can someone please give me a tip to get started ? Also when choosing a mode there are time of day and zone options. Does this change difficulty at all?

When you hit the menu button there's a bunch of tabs on the panel in front, press those buttons to cycle between menu pages. The one on the far left is 'items', and it has batteries in there you can buy. Just buy a new one and put it in your building after you place one!

As for some general tips, get some fighter bots and send them out to the enemy to slow down their expansion a little. It'll stop them spreading too fast (which means they get more income and start getting out of control).

Also help your bots mining at the start to go faster, keep up bot production, try and move up to a new crystal patch and get that moving too. A few medic bots can really help keep bots alive.

A quick and dirty strategy would be just spamming assault bots and moving up to expand quickly and sending them on suicide runs at the enemy expansions!

The bubble gun (hold weapon toggle to see other weapons) is much more useful than it seems. The upgraded version is really strong (each bubble actually does damage when it pops), though it doesn't feel as strong as disc weapon. It helps let your bots survive and fight longer and really pins down the enemy.
