Beta Patch #1 Now Available
Attention Willamette Parkview Mall Shoppers,

We have made a beta branch of an upcoming Dead Rising patch available for Steam users to try out at their own discretion.

As with previous beta branch patches in some of our other Steam releases, we would like to keep this thread civil and focused on reporting new issues. We also would appreciate both positive and constructive feedback for the fixes that have been rolled into this update.

How to access the Beta
NOTE: Please keep in mind that this is a beta patch. Use this patch at your own risk.

  1. From your Steam ‘LIBRARY’ list, right-click on Dead Rising and select 'Properties'
  2. Select the ‘BETAS’ tab.
  3. Type dZ4Ox6LqtGfu7LBu (case-sensitive) in the 'Enter beta access code' field and then click CHECK CODE.
  4. Now, select "stable" from the pull-down menu and click CLOSE.
  5. Wait for the Steam client to finish downloading the patch.

    Change log
    Fixes & Tweaks:

    - Addresses savedata corruption issue under certain conditions, including maxing out photos stored on the camera.

    House Rules
Please keep this thread clean and focused specifically on the aforementioned fixes/additions for the purpose of collecting feedback based on your experience with this beta.

Any off-topic rants or confrontational replies that derail the thread may be removed as it becomes very difficult to collate feedback. Thank you for understanding.

Once we see enough thumbs up with the fixes and tweaks (and not break anything else along the way!), the patch will be made public without password protection.

    About Save Data...
****Save data is compatible between public version and beta version.
****While we do not anticipate the patch to introduce fatal bugs, we highly recommend backing up your save file just to be safe.

Save file is located in the following Steam installation directory:
(xxxxxxxx is a number unique to your Steam User ID)

    C:\Program Files\Steam\userdata\xxxxxxxxx\427190\remote\

    Reminder...
As a friendly reminder, please ensure your PC is capable of running Dead Rising by checking the System Requirements on the Store Page.

    Posting Feedback
IMPORTANT: Please provide the following information when posting in this thread.

    A) Your System Specs (please be as specific as possible)
    1) CPU name and model
    2) Graphics card/chip model
    3) Video driver version number
    4) System memory size
    5) OS version (Windows 7, 8, 64-bit/32-bit, etc.)
    6) OS language
    7) Motherboard/chipset, if known (or if a laptop, make/model)
    8) Game settings (fps, resolution, anti-aliasing, refresh rate, etc.)

*Optionally, it would be very helpful if you can also generate and post a link to your DxDiag file[www.fuzeqna.com] -- a file generated from DirectX Diagnostics Tool -- which provides detailed hardware, software, and driver setup for your PC.

    B) Specific issue
Please share the specific issue and the area where you are experiencing the said behavior.

    C) Detailed reproduction steps, if consistently reproducible

This step in particular is super helpful for the development team. The more detailed info you can provide, the quicker the team can reproduce the error state and (hopefully) fix the issue.

    Slow or infinite loading?
If you are experiencing long load times, there is a chance that your anti-virus software may be deleting important game files. If so, please try the following steps in order to isolate the issue:
    1) Disable or temporarily shut down the anti-virus software
    2) Open Steam client, right-click on Dead Rising from Library, and select Properties
    3) Click Local Files tab and select 'Verify integrity of game cache..."
    4) Once the verification process completes, launch the game and verify if the load times improve (make sure to keep the anti-virus software turned off during this test)

Please also check the following two Steam Support articles which cover crashes as they relate to anti-virus software and other 'hidden' Windows processes that may interfere with the game and/or Steam client.

    1. Programs Which May Interfere with Steam
    2. Antivirus software reports Steam games are malicious

We look forward to your feedback!

Patch doesn't work for the FPS bug, so it is NOT related to the save data corruption issue. Atleast, we know that.

About save corruption bugs, whenever I click "save and quit" after dying, I cant continue the game. Is that meant to happen? Thanks.

If you want to continue from your last save then you shouldn't select Save and Quit when you die. That option is for when you've had enough of your current playthrough and want to start over!

I don't quite think you know what "save and quit" means.

I actually have the exact same issue. It completely removes the load option. I keep my level and all that, but story progress is completely erased.

FPS issues seem to persist with the patch, seems to be some sort of memory leak. Game continues to eat up more and more memory throughout the session.
