"Failed to save game data for unknown reason" (Solved?)
I'm getting this error message whenever I try to save when I reach the security room, and I've replayed the intro a few times with no luck.

Edit:

Another proposed cause of this issue is that photos Frank has taken may cause the game to fail to save. Another solution is as such to try deleting some photos, particularly photos which have a lot of complex geometry in them.

Is Steam running with Admin Rights?

Moving this thread to the proper section.

Save Game Corruption?
Hi, I started a new game, made a save after the helicopter sequence, completed the intro with the zombies breaking into the mall, and tried saving once Otis woke me up.

I recieved the message "save failed for unknown reason". I tried triggering the next story scene, attempted to save after, and got the same message. I've verified the filed on steam and ran the game as an admin, but when trying to load, it claimed my save file was corrupt.

Are there any known issues with save corruption that will be changed in the Day One patch?

I get the same error message whenever I try to save. I never had to run steam with admin rights before.

Same issue here, hoping for someone to confirm before restarting.

"Failed to save"
Pretty straightforward. I keep getting a "Failed to save" prompt when trying to. When attempting to overwrite it I get a "save corrupted promt." Anyone else have this issue?

Yup, me too. Saved fine the first time, then after meeting Brad and Jessie, get the "save failed" issue.

None yet, but obviously it's something of a major concern to me as well.

Note that some users whom experienced this issue have since fixed it by either Restarting Steam, Downloading the day 1 patch, or Starting steam with Admin Rights (or without it).

Yes.

We'll have the devs keep an eye on it.

In the meantime, I suggest:

a) Running the deadrising.exe with elevated admin rights as Mikfail has suggested
b) Anti-virus software is configured to exclude the entire Dead Rising game installation folder from the scan target.
c) Might want to do the same for the save file directory just in case.

For those who consistently experience save failure and data corruption even with the above suggestion, can you temporarily disable or shut down your anti-virus software and try again? This is to weed out any potential compatibility issue with the AV software you may be using.

Those with the save issue, are you on Windows 10? I've heard many games and programs have issues saving files on Windows 10.

Windows 7 here, running both the game and steam with admin rights seems to have worked for me, thanks!
