No but i prefer no combo weps,
and besides that, the movement/gameplay is muuuuch smoother,
better port, story, characters & map imo.

I played through dr2 3 times since release, i play dr1 for the 1st time rn. And i completely disagree with you, the game is so dated and annoying comparing to 2.

Combo weapons are cool but some of the weapons in DR1 are really strong and satisfying even before the stupid crap like mini chainsaw or the real mega buster. In the later games individual items kind of felt useless or lack luster because combo weapons existed.

I wish the combo weapons were more "Vague" in DR2, I like mashing items together to make new ones as I think anyone would do that but then you just focus on using Combo Weapons over what kind of crap you can find.

Then Again I remember playing DR1 on my Xbox and i would hoard a bunch of Katanas or Golden Axes and a shotgun or uzi and when I did my recently playthrough, I finally used the triple buffed Small Chainsaws and alot of guns for the fun of it.

IMO I think Dead Island does a good job of making any random item you find able to beat up atleast 10 zombies.
