One of my favorite games of all time.

Before I start talking I just want to point out this is going to be a long disscussion and this is from my point of view so please don't take this personal if you don't agree about how I feel about this game I just want to give you my own thoughts about this game. And a heads up i'm going to be talking about the first part of the game so if you donw want to read that just skip to the next paragraph. Also keep in mind that I have horrible spelling so sorry if I spell somthing wrong I'm not that bright.

Ok so I can see this game is getting both possitive and negitive thought about its release on pc, mostly possitive than negitive wich is pretty good in my standards. I remeber this game when it first came out on xbox 360 in 2006, at the time I was just getting into gaming givin the fact I was young and stupid. When I heard of its release I wasn't to sure on buying it but me being young and looking for a game to play I got it at the price a new game would normanly cost ($60). On start up I was already confused on what game I have purchase (I knew that is was a zombie survival based horror game but that was all knew at the time), I press start a new game and began to play. The first part of it was pretty simple you were a guy name Frank West a Photographer/Reporter taking pictures of things all while on a helicopter; as you go along you see some pretty awsome and messed up stuff as you toure above a beat up citiy taken over by some strang people (I'm meaning of course zombies but the main character dosen't know whats going on). So as you pass by the city you notice a mall in the center of this city and notice a bounch of people swarming the mall like it was black friday. As you get closer to this mall you see a helipad on the roof and then he tells the pilot to land on the helipad. The pilot dosent belive you at first calling you nuts for doing this but you are determen to find out whats really going in this city. So you remind him to pick you up in three days so you can report your story to the world, but tragity happens when three mysterious helicopters that came out of no where start chasing you and bloking your path towards the mall. While this is happening the helicopter your in starts to doge this maniacks from taking you down once you got close enuf to the helipad you say ♥♥♥♥ it and jump 20 feet above the roof of the mall from your helicopter. You tumble as you hit the ground, you get up and pear off into the distance seeing your helicopter being chased by other helicopters not knowing whats is going to happen to your ride out of this mall.

Ok I think I explaned enough of the begging of this game I didnt go into full detail of what was going on but ive coverd most of it. But with that little intro I was already to immerst into this game and just as confused as the main character too. However as I played I just got more and more lost into the story line to the point I bascily pull all nighters playing and not getting a minute of sleep. Usally my mom finds me in my room with the T.V. on baraly awake playing this game so it was safe to say I was already addictied to playing this game from the beggining. When I when to school that was the only thing on my mind not careing about anything other than playing DeadRising. But i'm not here to explain how addicted I was into playing this game i'm here to tell you how awsome this game really is.

The begging of the game can be a bit slow but it leaves you to question alot of things that are going on in this city to the point you're just as curious as the main character. Leaving you to get immerst into the game trying to find out whats going to happen next. Not alot of games did that back then in my opinion besides some of the older games like Resident Evil or Silent Hill. But I didnt really play alot of horror game I was more of a first person shooter kiind of kid so playing this game was extreamly diffrent from what I was use to. Like the hole third person view I thought that was interesting and new. Also the fact that your enviorment was interactable like you can pick up random object and beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of stuff if you relly wanted to. The guns in this game were pretty esay to come by like the pistols that where in the hands of some zombie cop that you could esaly kill and take it from them but suprisingly you couldnt realod your guns. Which really confused me but I didnt really care this game tough me not every game is revolved around shooting things in the face but simply enjoing the fact that you can pick up random objects to kill things too like a bat or knife or possibly a skateboard your options are endless. But obviously your wepons would break pretty esaly due to the fact of you repedaly smaking zombies in the face with a bat. However that just left you to go explore the mall to find new items to kill zombies with which was a blast to do but somtimes annoying because you would get stuck in a horde zombies with no weapon but it was kinda satifing punching a zombie in the face when you didnt have a weapon to kill them with. But the most intersting part about this game was that you could level up your character wich was pretty standard but it was a big help to deal with the undead like the fact you can hold more items in your invitory or more healbars so your character can take a few extra hits. While you level up you can also get these special moves your characher learns like jumpkick, body slam, and the ability to stand on top the zombies like you were croud serfing but thats just scraching the surface of all the cool little tricks you can learn as you level up. You also can craft some special drinks by mixing some food into these blenders that you can find in some of the food courts that give you special abilities like the ability run really fast and the ability to spit harmfull saliva at zombies (Yes you have the ability to spit on zombies what did you expect this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awsome and weird). Oh and not to mention the fact that you can change your characters clothes at any time at some clothes shops wich I thought was an awsome feature to this game as well, you can put a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lego mask on his head and it will stay on his head during cut scenes that make some pretty funny moments in the game.

I could go on about all the things this game has to offer you just need to experience it yourself and I encourage you to do so. But I will say this game isn't perfect like all other games it has its flaws like the hole escorting people in a safe house. Yes you have the option to do escort missions through out the time you are in the mall, but dont get me wrong the missions are fun to do and get you more into the game by meeting all these diffrent people. They even reward you with extra experience points or as the game calls it PP lol. But the only problem was the AIS were very difficult to escort around the mall. The reason why was the way this game works it that the zombies would actually lach onto you and wount let go untill you do a series of quick itme events and button massing. Wich was pretty cool but also pertty annoying trying to save other survivors that would constantly get grabed by zombies thus makeing it more difficult maneuvering around a horde of zombies. Dont get me stardted about the numerous times I acidently killed one of my survivors and trying to heard a group of them all at once. But I can forgive Capcom for this becasue it tought me to be very cautious and think about what I was going to do to get to point A to point B. Which lead me to explore more of the map learning cool little short cuts. Oh also theres this little mechanic that you can do that actually lets you take picture of stuff in the game you can also get extra PP from that but not a lot unless you get some realy good photos that give you lots of points.

Well that really wraps up my hole ordeal about DeadRising all in all a really awsome game I love it to death I still play it every once and awhile for fun and also beating it a couple more time to enjoy the story line. I can't wait for it to come out on PC Its going to be awsome to play it once again like old times. If you haven't played it already hopfully my little rant would at least convince you to give it a try once it comes out after all you can refund steam games if you don't like the game. Besides $20 itsn't that much to be honest they should sell if for more its practily a steal for how much fun you will have with this game. Back in the day I bought an Xbox 360 JUST for the OG Dead Rising. I for one am also stoked for this Steam release. I haven't played through the game in years, looking forward to it!

I remember reading about this in Magazines when i was younger! dreaming of the day i would be able to play it!, some time later i finaly got a 360 for just this game! and it was amazing! One of my most favorit too.

The thing I find silly about this game going to Steam in September is this : The game is sold 25$. Meanwhile with the sales going right now you can get Dead Rising 2 and even 3 for less.

And the game is a few years old so I'm not sure if that price is right, but still a great game anyway.

I will agree with you because of the fact that its kinda of silly that it being a Capcom game it wouldn't go on sale like the rest of them. However I will state out the fact that this game hasn't came out on steam yet and the other games however have been out for a while now so I kinda understand why they wouldn't put a pre-order game on sale right away. It just dosen't make a hole lot of sense in my opinoin don't get me wrong I like to save money just as much as the next guy but a game that is only $20 itsn't really all that bad if im being honest. But i'm not trying to call you out on anything I just wanted to tell you that the price dosen't really matter if you enjoied this game before and want to enjoy the experience of this game again. $20 price is fine for reaching an entire new audience on a platform that has never had a chance to play this before. Pretty in line and standard with several other PC ports of console 'exclusive' titles recently like the RE's or Valkyria Chronicles which hit the same $20USD sweet spot.
Significantly less than a full price release in any event.

Can't please everyone worldwide with varying different financial situations but for me this is less than a single hour's wages, the only thing preventing me pre-ordering and purchasing so far is the precedent of the previous DR games being... not the best ports on PC, and so I'm waiting for unassociated/unbiased reviews to show us how this version functions post-launch.
