"Real" Mega Buster useless?
does anyone else find it usless? Yes its great against the bosses, but other than that its pretty useless.

Before everyone calls me crazy, let me explain.

To get the mega buster you have to kill 53,594 zombies. That alone is a tough task and deserves a reward. The reward however cool i looks, is really useless compared to a shotgun.

The mega buster is fired in a straight line and until it connects continues it vector. Once hitting it most the time insta kill the object and it disappears. It carries 300 ammo and can only hold one at a time due to spawning.

Then theres the shotgun, which has 20 shells and unlike the buster, it spread and can kill a good 10 zombies. Its great for clearing a path and continue running.

The megabuster however, is aweful at clearing a path, taking one shot each and having to stop to get a safe path achieved.

I think to balance it and make it more powerful (it is a end game reward afterall), capcom should have allowed a special move from that series. The mega buster charge.

Hold X and the weapon glows and does the same vibrate sound effect, release and a massive ball flys across the vector and kills any zombies in its path.

To balance and fix bugs, have it take a good 5 or 6 seconds to charge fully. That way you can just kill a boss or cancel it if a survivor walks in its path.

To further balance, have a set distance for the ball. Say 10 or 15 ft. It doesnt matter for most zombies since they disappear a good 30 ft away, but for bosses and survivors its critical.

That way the buster is actually useful and able to clear a path.

Anyone else understand what i mean, or am i crazy?

Tap x instead of aiming, it auto aims at the nearest zombie, it works great for clearing entire areas. I do this same technique using the hummber 50 cal

It is worthless for clearing and moving though. It's practically a turret, stand still and shoot away. The shotgun you can satisfyingly run forward and shoot to clear a path. This you can no easily do so as the tracking doesnt work as well while running.

I think it's great, I just don't use it on zombies. I mainly use mini chainsaw/laser sword for zombies, easier and quicker at clearing paths.

53,594 zombies took me literally 3 hours, just go down to the maintenence tunnels and drive around a lot, but the megabuster is a great weapon for the novelty, it isn't supposed to be amazing for anything other than killing bosses, and the shotgun is literally one of the best weapons in the game for pathmaking, but it's only ok for bosses unless you wanna risk getting really close against them which i wouldn't reccomend for just about any of them unless you got a good melee weapon

It's objectively good at clearing zombies. I'd say one of the best weapons for clearing zombies if you know how to use the autotargeting

Looking at dead rising 3 through searchs for a mega buster charge shot revealed that it does indeed have it, but it's instantaneous, doesnt take extra ammo, and really doesn't provide a omph or satisfying feeling.

Question i wonder is why didnt they make it a charge shot in dr1? Its not like it wasn't introduced in megaman already. Hell could even input the cool charge sound effect and everything.

I don't think the Mega Buster was ever really designed to be used on zombies. I've always used it as a psycho and cultist/soldier killer almost exclusively. I suppose that's why they also added the Laser Sword, also having 300 hits before breaking. It's the zombie specific power weapon.

Personally I prefer to ignore the Laser Sword and use the chainsaws instead. Don't get me wrong, I use the Mega Buster on zombies all the time, but I understand that it's not practical or efficient as a zombie killer.

Mega-Buster for a ranged weapons againts psychos.
Clown-Saw for that nice wave clear againts zombies AND psychos.

The fact i killed Carlito in one hit speaks volumes, served me well so far. Zombie Genocidist was worth it.

That's another good point too, the Mega Buster is really meant to make dealing with psychopaths an instantaneous event. Start fight, shoot, end fight. Saves you TONS of time and gives you way more time to do other things, like save survivors. Spending less time dealing with psychopaths makes the game loads easier and even more time lenient.

I believe it was just designed to make the rest of the achievements easy. It's basically required if you want to play infinity mode efficently, for example.
