Question on restarting/replaying - like DR2?
Hi,

Just wondering how this games PP/stats/level system works as compared to Dead Rising 2?

In DR2 you could restart the game at anytime you desired while keeping your level, any skills you'd unlocked, recipes you'd learned, etc. You did not have to even finish playing through till the end of the game/story/timer if you didn't want to... you could restart, keeping your level's, skills, PP, etc.

Is DR1 similar or not? I never did play DR1 on console (I'm one of those rare ppl who has never owned any console at all. lol). Or do you start from scratch each time you re-start, and the only 'advantage' of restarting is knowing where things are?

I admit I liked this feature in DR2 - I tended to restart a playthrough sometime during Day 2... this let me build up some level's, skills, etc... and then restart working on a non-complete story, then a complete story on 3rd run (I could have done complete on 2nd, but that was too stressful for me... lol much easier on 3rd heh).

Yes, it works the same as DR2. Whenever you die you have the option to "save and quit". This deletes your save game but retains Frank's stats and unlockables for when you start a new game.

Unless you unlocked them in the game you died. Then you get no achievement reward. To keep rewards and use t hem you need to get an ending on the playthrough you unlocked them.
Just to clear up confusion.

Thanx for the answer. Glad that it works like DR2 in this regard - does this option to "save and quit" only happen when you die? Or can you do this at any time?

I'm not sure what you mean about reward/achievment thing. I'm assuming there are unlockable costumes/weapons?/etc that you can get if you do certain things in the game... are you saying they will only carry over to a new game if I play till the ending?

What if I do what is needed to unlock something, restart the game then do it again... will it unlock for me at that point... assuming I then play till the end?

Are any of the Steam Achievements tied to getting these unlocks done? If so, would that situation screw up getting the Steam achievement? IE. Do whats needed for unlock, restart before getting to end, do whats needed for unlock a 2nd time but get to ending this time?

I might just go on a 3 day zombie killing rampage, while ignoring all cases, and see what I get or don't get... but the unlock's prolly tied in to story game events lol. Best part of DR2 & 3 was the zxombie killing (2 & OTR were the best tho, DR3's main character was too whiny. pfft!).
