The Ultimate Survivor's Guide
In the past couple weeks I've been putting together somewhat of a mega-guide for DEAD RISING. It has everything from basic information, tips for various things in the game, full blown guides for Saint and 7 Day Survivor, guides for the other achievements, and more. I hope that it will come in handy for a lot of returning players as well as new players.

Do be warned it will be filled with spoiler type stuff. It's not a "game guide" exactly, so the whole plot isn't there or anything, but there are minor details like character names that a new player would read and get things spoiled. Read at your own risk if you are a new player to the original DEAD RISING.

Anywho, you can find the link to the guide in this discussion topic for my DEAD RISING group:

Hope it's ok to post this here. All the credits for the guide are included on the last page.

No problem, happy to help out the Dead Rising 1 fans with what I know about the game. I am continuing to tweak the guide and will be updating with new versions until everything has been made 100% accurate, even down to the names of the in-game items. Please don't hesitate to check over it yourself and suggest changes/corrections.

I see your a big fan of the submachine gun. I'm more of a "katana only" guy myself.

Seriously though, this is well put together and I might try to implement some of your strats for day 2. Rescuing Gordon always causes me the most trouble for some reason.

I have a few suggestions for day 1 tips:

It's worth pointing out that Cletus doesn't appear until 4pm on day 1. I've never seen any guide online get that right, but I can confirm the store is empty until then. You can rush over there and stock up on guns before going to fight Carlito for the first time.

Carlito 1 dies in a few hits to a katana at level 1. You can climb the barrels near the food shops to reach him. Wait around the corner while he empties his gun and then rush him.

You have Leah's scoop listed as starting at 4:15. She doesn't appear until 5.

I'd recommend waiting in the food court with Bill until 4pm to grab Burt and Aaron's scoop. The shop they're hiding in is right next to the food court entrance.

While it's manageable to grab Bill, Burt, Aaron, Sophie, and Leah in one go, I've found it to be more time consuming to try and herd so many survivors at once (and do Kent's scoop on the way back).

My usual route for day 1:
  1. Grab bill, burt, and aaron, do Kent's scoop on the way back.
  2. Mess around until 6 when the convicts appear, then save Sophie.
  3. Go back and kill convicts, then go fight Cletus (Or save Leah, you have plenty of time).
  4. Fight Adam, save Greg (You should add a note that Adam's block instantly breaks any melee weapon).
  5. Save Tourists
  6. save Leah if you haven't already
  7. Save David
  8. Kill convicts again, then go grab the maintenance key
  9. Mess around until 6am
I find this way to be less stressful since the survivor AI causes enough problems as it is.

EDIT: One note for day 2: If you enter Wonderland Plaza while "Above The Law" is active, this will trigger the health bars for all of the hostages except Kay. If you leave the area, their health will deplete until they eventually die.

If that's for Saint, do note the guide for that is not actually mine but rather the guide I followed when I did Saint myself back on Xbox 360.

I would say I do prefer using SMG for certain situations mainly because a book-less katana breaks pretty fast, and once I get the chainsaws from Adam I don't need anything again lol.

I can add a section for an alternative day 1 and 2 strategy with credit to you for the next version.

Should transcribe this to a steam guide

I was going to but it would be a lot of copy/pasting when it's all right there already, but I will be pasting them into discussions in my Steam group for Dead Rising. Haven't decided yet, I may still do a full Steam guide with the same content when I get this one finished.

I've not read it, but i hope you've got one. If you visit the gun store before you meet brad at the start of the game in the food court. That the boss won't be there so you can stock up on early guns. :D
