Weapons in Dead Rising

Is there any point in using anything else than 3 magazine small chainsaw in this game? I'm currently at the beginning of day 2, lvl 11 and I fail to find a reason to even pick up other weapons other than to give them to survivors(so they can cleave me and each other to death thanks to their ai). I have immediately noticed in the beginning that mannequin torsos were pretty much the prime choice of a weapon early on with the knockdown and stupid high durability, but small chainsaw is even better. Don't even need to carry more than one(hell, any other weapon) since it has like 2k durability. It kinda kills the enjoyment of the game when all it becomes after Adam the Clown is a small chainsaw rescue simulator, because any other weapon is virtually useless until the end of the game. I've started from Dead Rising 2 and it's even worse there - there's barely any point in using any other weapons than nail bat and knife gloves, they're just that effective AND easy to make against zombies and human enemies respectively.

Not really unless you want to go for a challenge.

Frank’s signature loadout is supposed to be a baseball bat and a pistol.

Try beating the game with this challenge.

Baseball bats
Pistols
Related magazines
Food.

Work on getting the real megabuster and/or the laser sword. Fun stuff.

Soon as you get the real megabuster you really don't need any other weapon, same deal with the laser sword.

I'm crazy and I don't usually go for the books because I do enjoy a bit of a challenge. I love those chainsaws even without the books lol.

Tbf, the small chainsaw + 3 mags was just an oversight.

But you're right, 2 or 3 of them will have you set for the full game. Only option is to just not pick them up.

Maybe play the game instead of looking for the most optimum way? I highly doubt you stumbled across this meta on your own.
